Jordan Chiles Isn’t Closing the Door on LA Olympics But Her Focus Is Elsewhere

Jordan Chiles is not ruling out a return to elite gymnastics, leaving the door open on representing Team USA at the LA Olympics in 2028.

Jordan Chiles has given an update on her future plans and whether she could return to compete for Team USA at the LA Olympics in 2028. Chiles is currently competing for UCLA and recently started her senior year in collegiate gymnastics.

Chiles was part of the Team USA gymnastics team that won gold in the team event at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She also helped the United States win silver in the team event at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Jordan Chiles Remains Coy on Future Plans

Chiles hasn’t represented Team USA since the Paris Olympics and has remained coy about her future plans. With the next Olympic Games scheduled to take place in Los Angeles, the 24-year-old could be tempted to return to elite gymnastics. And during a recent media interaction, she refused to rule out a return.

“Do I think about elite? Yeah, a lot of the time, I feel like that’s a question that people are going to continue to ask me, like, ‘Oh is she going to come back? What’s [LA Olympics] 28 looking like? I can say the biggest thing is, 28 is always going to be in my mind,” Chiles said to NBC (as shared by All Things Gymnastics Podcast on X).

“I think, allowing myself to finish my senior year out and just enjoy this moment. Then we’ll see what happens. There’s a two-year, three-year gap in between that anything is possible. But I think right now, my brain is just focusing on my senior year and we’ll see what happens after that.”

For now, Chiles remains focused on helping the UCLA Bruins win the NCAA women’s gymnastics tournament. The Bruins came close last year, eventually finishing second behind Oklahoma.

Chiles Won NCAA Bars Title in 2025

While UCLA had to settle for second place in the NCAA women’s gymnastics tournament last year, Chiles enjoyed a successful junior year with the program. The Oregon native won the uneven bars title, scoring an impressive 9.975. She ultimately finished fifth in the all-around, which was won by Jordan Bowers of Oklahoma.

Chiles has also enjoyed a strong start to the 2026 collegiate gymnastics season, finishing as the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week for the second week running on the back of an all-around score of 39.575 at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad. She is now preparing to lead the Bruins for their home opener against Nebraska.
