Nebraska Volleyball associate coach Jaylen Reyes recently opened up about the advantages of pressure situations. Reyes is also the head coach of the Huskers’ beach volleyball squad, who opened their account against the Ottawa team on a promising note, as the Big Red trounced them 5-0. Nebraska Volleyball Associate Jaylen Reyes Opens Up About Dealing With Pressure

Hurrdat Sports recently released a clip of Reyes’ interview on their official Instagram page. The post was captioned as,

” ‘When we lose, you feel like you let the whole state down.’ Nebraska Volleyball associate head coach Jaylen Reyes describes how the pressure is a privilege.”

The associate coach talked about how he handles such situations and how maintaining the Big Red legacy is super important. In his words,

“You know it’s really awesome to you know have this responsibility of hey, when we win matches, there’s no place better, but at the same time, when we lose, you feel like you let the whole state down, and you don’t get that anywhere else. I think a lot of other places, a lot of people care when you win, but when you lose, it doesn’t mean as much. For men, it’s like I want to mean it both ways, and in my opinion, you can only get that here in Nebraska.”

Reyes had joined Team Nebraska as the assistant coach in 2018. He has been part of the roller coaster journey, during which the Huskers reached the NCAA Championship finals three times in 2018, 2021, and 2023, respectively. Reyes has also been a part of the Nebraska Cornhuskers’ squad that completed a hat-trick of Big Ten Conference titles from 2023 to 2025.

Reyes also witnessed the transition when John Cook was replaced by his former student, Dani Busboom Kelly, as the head coach for the 2025 season. Kelly had represented the Huskers from 2003 to 2006 as a player and had previously led the Louisville Cardinals to the finals twice in the 2022 and 2024 editions.

Like her former coach, Dani Busboom Kelly also aimed to achieve the perfect start with a clean slate throughout the season. The Huskers more than lived up to expectations, winning the Big Ten Conference without losing a single game. They also led the record to 33-0 until the regional finals of the NCAA Championships.

Texas A&M Aggies, under the mentorship of Jamie Morrison, broke the invincible streak by 3-2. They later went on to create history by winning their maiden NCAA title last year, defeating the Kentucky Wildcats by 3-0.
