Cyclone Open Wrestling 2026 Final Results: Jax Forrest Registers Major Upset To Continue Unbeaten Streak

Oklahoma State standout Jax Forrest defeated a two-time U23 World Champion to capture the 133-pound title at the Cyclone Open.

The Cyclone Open Wrestling Tournament was recently conducted at Iowa State University. The tournament was organized at the Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa.

Oklahoma State Cowboys dominated most of the tournament. Jax Forrest turned out to be the surprise package as he stunned two-time U23 World champion Reineri Andreu Ortega to continue his unbeaten streak.

Jax Forrest Continues Unbeaten Streak With Major Upset At Cyclone Open Wrestling Tournament 2026

In the Cyclone Open Wrestling Tournament, several wrestlers, including Forrest, tested their skills against the best in the arena. To everyone’s surprise, Ortega proved to be no match for the Oklahoma State wrestler, who defeated him by 4-0 in the men’s 133 lbs. category finals.

With this, Forrest extended his unbeaten streak in collegiate wrestling. The U23 World champion had previously won the US National Championships.

On the other hand, the Cowboys dominated most of the categories. Mentored by former Olympic champion David Taylor, the Cowboys won four out of 10 categories in the tournament, followed closely by the wrestlers from Arizona State University, who won three categories overall.

The lone exception was the 165 lbs. category, where Connor Euton of Iowa State Cyclones defeated his own teammate, Alden Riggins, in the finals. Local favorite CJ Carter reached the finals, but missed out on the title by a whisker as he lost to Oklahoma State’s Austin Johnson by 4-2 in the finals of the men’s 197 lbs. category.
