Texas volleyball’s Emma Halter broke down in tears as she reflected on her four-year collegiate career with the Longhorns. She and her squad put up a decent show in the Elite Eight round but fell to Wisconsin in three sets.
Libero Emma Halter’s departure from the Texas squad will leave a dent in everyone’s hearts, considering her massive contributions to the team over the past four years.
Emma Halter Reminisces About Memories With Teammates and Expresses Love for the College Program
Emma Halter served as a defensive specialist in 2022, the same year the Longhorns reached the NCAA Championship round and won the title. She transitioned to full-time libero in 2023 and helped her squad defend the National title, establishing herself as a driving force. In the NCAA Tournament this year, Jerritt Elliott’s mentee led with her heavy defensive performances but couldn’t break through in the Regional Finals.
It also marked Halter’s final career match, as the senior bid farewell to her collegiate career. In a post-match media interaction, the libero broke down in tears, fondly recalling memories with her teammates and expressing how Texas has been the best thing she has ever experienced. She said:
“This place is so special, and this program is the most incredible thing that’s ever happened to me. Your recruiting year was the biggest blessing of my life. I’m really upset, but I’ve met my best friends and had incredible memories. So I’m really sad, but there’s so much blessing and so many memories that have come out of my four years here.”
She reminisced about how she always felt motivated to come to practice for her girls, with whom she shared lunches, traveled, joked around, and created a lifetime of memories.
Texas Volleyball’s Halter once posted 19 kills with her dynamism in an NCAA Final Four semifinal, helping her squad reach the Championship finals.
Texas Volleyball’s performance in the NCAA Regional Finals
The Longhorns faced the Badgers in August this year, defeating them comfortably. However, little did they know that the latter would avenge the loss in such a dominant fashion en route to the Nationals.
The Badgers were strong defensively, consistently finding ways to exploit loopholes in their opponents’ attacks. Mimi Coyler led the pack with 23 kills, and the squad averaged.249 overall.
Texas Volleyball made its presence felt in the third set, winning 25-20, but lost control in the fourth set, ultimately handing the win to the rival team, which advanced to the Final Four and has been en route to the title since 2023.
The Burnt Orange will next face the Kentucky Wildcats at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City on December 18, 2025.
