Eileen Gu Outpaces Simone Biles In 2025 Earnings, Setting The Pace For The Winter Olympic Games

Eileen Gu earned $23 million in 2025 to become the year’s highest-paid non-tennis athlete, surpassing gymnastics star Simone Biles in total earnings.

Eileen Gu has added another feather to her illustrious cap. The America-born freestyle skier has become the highest-earning non-tennis celebrity for 2025, outpacing gymnastics sensation Simone Biles by a mile.

Gu is currently preparing for the upcoming Winter Olympics, which are scheduled to be held in Milan-Cortina by early February next year. The 22-year-old skier hopes to repeat her Beijing heroics at the quadrennial event in Milan-Cortina.

Eileen Gu Becomes The Highest Paid Non-Tennis Celebrity for 2025

Gu became one of the highest-paid sports celebrities in 2025. The freestyle skier made a net worth of $23 million this year. Though the 22-year-old skier has cut down on the number of sponsorship deals in the past few years, the earnings have maintained a consistent growth.

The sports website Sportico recently released a list of the highest-earning sports celebrities throughout the world. From tennis to gymnastics, almost every field was considered in this compilation.

Like Biles, Gu earned most of her earnings through endorsements this year. The skier is ranked fourth overall on the list, owing to the top three members earning money through participation in various professional tennis tournaments this year.

While Gu earned $23 million, Biles earned $11 million. In terms of overall earnings by non-tennis celebrities, the gymnast is behind even the likes of WNBA player Caitlin Clark and golfer Nelly Korda, who have earned $16 million and $13.8 million, respectively, this year.

Coco Gauff has topped the list overall, earning $31 million this year. This includes $8 million of prize money from various tennis tournaments, including the Grand Slam events.

Gu’s performance at the Winter Olympics

Gu made her Olympic debut at the quadrennial event held in Beijing in 2022. The then 19-year-old freestyle skier had arrived as one of the most promising skiers after her back-to-back successes at the World Championships and the Winter Youth Olympics.

Gu participated in the big air, halfpipe, and slopestyle events, respectively. While Gu won a silver medal in the women’s slopestyle event, she clinched two gold medals in the women’s big air and the women’s halfpipe events.
