Dani Busboom Kelly Issues Heartfelt Plea To Nebraska Volleyball Fans Ahead of Jordan Larson’s Home Finale

The Nebraska Volleyball team showcased its unstoppable spirit last season, ignited by the arrival of Dani Busboom Kelly as head coach. Under her leadership, the Huskers blazed through the conference with a flawless 20-0 record and strung together 27 consecutive match wins, marking one of the most dominant stretches in program history.

Busboom Kelly took over as head coach after the retirement of legendary head coach John Cook, who spent 25 seasons leading the Huskers before stepping down in early 2025.

Dani Busboom Kelly Urges Fans to Attend Jordan Larson’s Final Match

Busboom Kelly shared a message on social media, urging fans to come and watch her former teammate and LOVB Nebraska player Jordan Larson’s final home match for the team. Larson played for the Nebraska Volleyball team from 2005 to 2008, winning a national championship in 2006, where she contributed as an outside hitter while Busboom Kelly played as the starting libero.

In a story shared on Instagram, Busboom Kelly wrote:

“Great vball tonight! Get here Saturday for Jordan’s last home match! http://LOVBneb.com/tickets.”

Larson became a founding athlete for LOVB Nebraska in April 2024, juggling her role on the court with her responsibilities as an assistant coach for the Huskers under Cook.

Busboom Kelly Discusses Her Expectations for Nebraska Volleyball Last Season

When Busboom Kelly stepped into the head coaching role for Nebraska Volleyball, anticipation buzzed through the community. Yet, with Cook’s legendary legacy looming large, many wondered if she could guide the team back to glory.

Busboom Kelly adapted brilliantly, though, helping the Huskers perform to the best of their ability, with their only loss of the season coming at the NCAA Regional Final. In a recent interview, the head coach discussed what she expected from the season at the start, saying: (33:31 onwards)

“Definitely not to be undefeated. I had high expectations for this team – that we would be in the hunt to win a national championship – but I didn’t know exactly what that journey or the day-to-day would look like. So, I do feel like it’s far exceeded expectations, but I also think this team is so mature and hungry that it makes our jobs as coaches a little easier because the team takes care of a lot of things on their own.”

Busboom Kelly started her coaching career in 2009, shortly after the end of her collegiate career. She was an assistant coach at the University of Tennessee during the 2009 and 2010 seasons and went on to become an assistant at Louisville in 2011, before becoming the head coach there in 2017.
