McLaughlin-Levrone will miss the 2026 season due to the unexpected blessing. However, she remains hopeful of returning in time for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The world record holder in the 400-meter hurdles posted several photos with her husband on Instagram. McLaughlin-Levrone announced the news with the caption:

McLaughlin-Levrone dated former NFL player turned social worker Andre Levrone for several years before he proposed in 2021, following her historic performance at the Tokyo Olympics. The couple married in May 2022.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone Opens Up About 400m Switch
McLaughlin-Levrone initially competed in the women’s 400-meter hurdles. However, after the Tokyo World Championships, she decided to fully transition to the women’s 400 meters.
In a previous interview with the Olympics portal, the 26-year-old Olympic champion explained her decision, saying:
“[Pushing] myself in a way that I haven’t before [has] been exciting. It’s challenging but… I’m excited to see where it continues to go.”
McLaughlin-Levrone nearly broke Marita Koch’s four-decade-old world record in the 400-meter final at the Tokyo World Championships. She clocked 47.78 seconds, just 0.18 seconds shy of Koch’s record of 47.6 seconds.
