In a heartwarming moment at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Breezy Johnson got engaged to her partner, Connor Watkins, who proposed to her on Thursday. The proposal happened at the base of the Team USA star’s Super-G final run, where she crashed and failed to finish.
The engagement comes just days after Johnson won the gold medal in the Downhill, which marked the 30-year-old’s first Olympic medal. Alongside the ring, Watkins also handed Johnson a wooden box featuring lyrics from the Taylor Swift song, “The Alchemy”.
How Breezy Johnson and Fiancé Connor Watkins Met
According to USA Today, Johnson and Watkins first met on the dating app Bumble. Their first date came at a brunch restaurant, and the latter had no idea that the former was an alpine ski racer who represented the United States.
Watkins, who works in the construction industry, later said he has grown to love alpine ski racing.
“I was a little taken aback. I had very little knowledge of ski racing and everything else. Over the past couple years, I’ve really grown to love it,” he said via USA Today.
Johnson and Watkins have been together for nearly two and a half years, with the latter often cheering the former on at her events.
Johnson Reacts to Winter Olympics Proposal
After getting engaged to her partner, Johnson said the proposal exceeded her wildest expectations. She also spoke about how she had always hinted to her partner that she wanted to be proposed to at the Olympic Games. And at Cortina d’Ampezzo, her dream came true.
“I mean, that was my hope! But it’s definitely a lot more crazy with everything just happening all at once, and the reality of it is so different than the way you imagined, and so much better. There’s nothing better than doing well and having somebody to share it with,” Johnson said via NBC.
The news of the engagement was later shared by the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team account on the social media platform X.

Watkins later said that proposing at the Olympic Games was a logistical challenge he had been planning for a year.
Johnson has been one of Team USA’s star performers in alpine skiing at the 2026 Winter Olympics. She won gold in the Downhill and narrowly missed a medal in the team event, as Team USA finished fourth. In the Super-G final, the Wyoming native crashed and failed to finish.
