Bergen Reilly Announces Beach Volleyball Retirement After Nebraska Season Ends

Bergen Reilly announces her official retirement from beach volleyball as she prepares for her senior indoor season at Nebraska.

As the Nebraska beach volleyball season drew to a close, Bergen Reilly opened up with a heartfelt reflection on her journey with the Huskers. The team wrapped up the year with an impressive 21-3 record, fueled by standout performances from Reilly herself, Andi Jackson, Harper Murray, Laney Choboy, and Skyler Pierce.

In the 2026 season, Reilly teamed up with freshman outside hitter Teraya Sigler, and together they notched an impressive 16-4 record. Before that, Reilly joined forces with Ally Batenhorst during the 2023 and 2024 campaigns.

Bergen Reilly’s Heartfelt Message on Her Beach Volleyball Career

Reilly’s 2025 campaign with the Huskers was nothing short of extraordinary. She was instrumental in keeping Nebraska undefeated in conference play, earning honors like AVCA Setter of the Year, Big Ten Player of the Year, and Big Ten Setter of the Year. Under her leadership, the Huskers achieved a school-record .351 hitting percentage.

In a post on Instagram after Nebraska’s beach volleyball season ended with a win over Ave Maria University in Florida, Reilly wrote a heartfelt message on her beach career:

“officially a retired beach vball player🥹🥹 shoutout to the best partners ever @allybatenhorst @teraya.sigler ❤️❤️.”

Ally Batenhorst spent three seasons playing for Nebraska. Together with Reilly, she posted strong records in beach volleyball both in 2023 (15-5) and 2024 (15-12). She went on to play for the Omaha Supernovas in Major League Volleyball.

Bergen Reilly on Why She Chose to Join Nebraska

Reilly’s freshman year at Nebraska was truly unforgettable. She made history as the first freshman to claim Big Ten Setter of the Year since the award’s inception in 2012, and also collected AVCA Second-Team All-American and AVCA All-Region accolades.

After high school, Reilly had her pick of top programs, but she revealed that a Nebraska camp experience ultimately convinced her to become a Husker:

“I think from then on, I kind of I knew deep down that Nebraska was going to be my place. But then June 15 came and I wanted to keep my options open, and I talked to a lot of different schools. Then I came back to Nebraska, like a month later for Dream Team [Camp], and that really just sealed the deal for me, just to really get the experience that what a Nebraska volleyball player does, and getting to work super closely with the coaches, and again, with more of the players,” she said, as per Hurrdat Sports.

Reilly will be in her senior year by next season. She will be looking to end her collegiate volleyball career on a high note by securing a national title for Nebraska.
