‘Excited to Join Something Special’ — Ayden Ames Commits to Creighton Volleyball After Two Seasons at Texas Volleyball

Former Texas standout Ayden Ames will join the Creighton volleyball team, giving the Bluejays an experienced addition through the transfer portal.

Creighton volleyball has steadily built a reputation as one of the most consistent and respected programs in college volleyball, particularly within the Big East Conference. That winning culture received another boost as former Texas volleyball player Ayden Ames announced her commitment to Creighton, adding experience from one of the most competitive programs in the country.

Ayden Ames Announces Commitment to Creighton Volleyball

The Bluejays are coming off another strong stretch that included regular NCAA Tournament appearances, conference titles, and a track record of developing players into national standouts. Under head coach Kirsten Bernthal Booth, Creighton has become known for its disciplined system, tough defense, and ability to compete with nationally ranked programs.

Ames made her commitment to Creighton Volleyball official through an Instagram post, writing: “It’s a GREAT day to be a Jay 💙. #RDJ #committed. Thank you to Coach Brian and the entire coaching staff for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to play alongside these amazing girls! I am so excited to join something special! Let’s do this!”

Ames averaged 1.52 kills and 1.11 blocks per set with a .368 hitting percentage as a sophomore and is the second transfer commitment this season, in addition to Katie Dalton. She was also named to the SEC All-Freshman Team last season and led Texas in blocks with 109 this year.

While her time at Texas placed her in a highly competitive environment filled with elite talent, her move to Creighton presents an opportunity for a fresh start and a potentially expanded role within a program that values versatility and development.

Ames’ commitment fits seamlessly into the broader trajectory of Creighton volleyball, a program that has become synonymous with sustained success. The Bluejays are perennial contenders in the Big East, frequently finishing at or near the top of the conference standings and earning NCAA Tournament berths year after year.

Ames Bids Goodbye to Texas Before Announcing Commitment to Creighton

Before Ames announced her commitment to Creighton Volleyball, she penned a lengthy message on Instagram, bidding an emotional goodbye to the Longhorns.

“Longhorn Nation. These past two years at the University of Texas have been nothing short of amazing. Thank you for welcoming me with open arms and giving me the opportunity to live out my streams. Thank you fans for making me feel like family,” she wrote.

The middle blocker also thanked her teammates and friends for making her time at the University of Texas memorable. She noted that while it was “one of the hardest decisions” she has ever had to make, she is excited to see what the future holds.
