Amber Glenn has dazzled in her first Olympic appearance, making a memorable mark on the ice. Before her next event, she was surprised with a heartfelt message from a global superstar. On Feb. 8, Glenn took to the rink for the team figure skating event, delivering a powerful free skate that earned her third place and vital points, helping Team USA clinch the gold medal.
Glenn skated to a segment of “The Return” by CLANN (the artist Seb McKinnon), a routine she has performed for nearly two seasons.
Amber Glenn’s Message From Madonna
Ahead of her next event, the women’s short program, to be held today, Feb. 17, Glenn received an encouraging message from the iconic American singer, Madonna. Glenn has been using Madonna’s “Like A Prayer” in her short program for the 2025-26 season, including at the 2026 U.S Championships, where she set a record-breaking short program score of 83.05.
Glenn was shown a video message from Madonna, in which the singer said: “Amber Glenn, I just watched you skate to my song, ‘Like a Prayer’, and I have to tell you, I was blown away by it. You are an incredible skater. So strong, so beautiful, so brave. I can’t imagine that you would not win. So I just want to say good luck. Go get that gold.”
Glenn couldn’t contain her excitement and emotions, saying after watching the video:
“Sorry, I’m in shock. I’m in complete shock. I’m legitimately shaking. Oh my god. My queen, thank you so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You are beautiful, stunning, amazing, and you are an icon, a legend forever. And thank you for supporting athletes in their artistic ventures. And I hope I can do the song justice. Thank you.”
The women’s short program begins at 12:45 PM ET at the Milano Ice Skating Arena, and it will be broadcast live on NBC and USA Network. With encouragement from one of her musical idols, Glenn is more determined than ever to chase another gold medal.
Glenn’s Olympic Debut Marred By Controversy
Despite her strong Olympic debut, Glenn’s journey has not been without turbulence. Following her Feb. 8 free skate, Canadian artist Seb McKinnon raised concerns online about the unlicensed use of his song “The Return.” Thankfully, the issue was resolved amicably.
Glenn has also used her platform to speak out against the Trump administration, highlighting the impact of the current political climate on the LGBTQ+ community. Her candid remarks sparked online backlash, prompting her to take a brief break from social media.
