Amber Glenn received praise from her fellow Team USA figure skaters ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics. The likes of Alysa Liu, Ilia Malinin, and Evan Bates all lauded the three-time U.S. national champion.
Glenn is all set to spearhead Team USA’s medal hopes in figure skating at the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. The 26-year-old will make her Olympic debut, becoming the oldest American woman to qualify for an Olympic singles team in almost a century.
Teammates Hail Amber Glenn Ahead of 2026 Winter Olympics
Fellow Team USA figure skaters were full of praise for Glenn, sharing superlatives about the Texas native in broadcaster NBC’s “Meet Team USA Figure Skating” video, which introduced fans to members of the American figure skating roster for the Olympics. The likes of Liu, Malinin, and Bates all spoke about what makes Glenn stand out.
Liu said, “Amber, I’m gonna say, the toughest.” “She’s a very powerful skater, and almost in your face,” added Malinin.
Bates added, “And her triple axel is probably the best in the world.”
The 2026 Winter Olympics will hold its opening ceremony later on Friday. The figure skating events are already underway at the Milano Ice Skating Arena. Glenn and Liu will begin their short program on Feb. 17, followed by the free skate on Feb. 19.
Glenn Made History at the 2026 U.S. Figure Skating Championships
Glenn made history at the 2026 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, becoming the first woman since the legendary Michelle Kwan to win three straight titles. She won both the short program and the free skate en route to a dominant win.
Not only did she register an excellent score of 233.55, but Glenn also set the new record in the short program with a score of 83.05. Her exemplary performances in St. Louis helped her secure a spot on the Team USA roster for the 2026 Winter Olympics.
“Just so grateful,” Glenn said after her National Championship triumph on the NBC broadcast. “That was terrifying and I had to skate after these two incredible ladies [Liu and Levito] brought the house down, so I’m glad that I didn’t disappoint too much. I’m still just mind blown.”
Glenn will be joined at the 2026 Winter Olympics by friends and rivals Liu and Isabeau Levito, who finished second and third at the National Championships. All three Team USA figure skaters are more than capable of winning the gold medal, and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top in Milan.
