Alysa Liu and Amber Glenn Extend Support to Madison Chock and Evan Bates After Heartbreaking Winter Olympics Gold Loss

Alysa Liu and Amber Glenn sent messages of support to Evan Bates and Madison Chock after their ice dance silver medal at the Winter Olympics.

Evan Bates and Madison Chock received support from fellow Team USA figure skaters Alysa Liu and Amber Glenn after they narrowly missed out on the gold medal in the ice dance event at the 2026 Winter Olympics. The French team won the gold medal in a decision that stirred some controversy.

Bates and Chock delivered a flawless performance in the ice dance event on Wednesday, but ultimately finished 1.43 points behind the French duo of Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron. The decision came as a surprise to many fans, who felt that the Team USA duo deserved the gold medal.

After the figure skating ice dance event, Liu and Glenn both posted messages on their Instagram story in support of Bates and Chock. Glenn hailed the duo as “my Olympic champions”, while Liu called them “the most inspiring people”.

“My Olympic champions. Gracious people. Incredible athletes. Amazing entertainers,” Glenn wrote on her Instagram story.

“Madi and Evan are the most inspiring people I know. Four phenomenal performances on Olympic ice, back to back. They on a whole nother level of athlete,” Liu wrote on her Instagram story.

In addition to their ice dance silver, Bates and Chock led Team USA to a gold medal in the team event at the 2026 Winter Olympics. They also won gold in the team event at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.

What Bates and Chock Said After Bittersweet Olympic Silver Medal

While Bates and Chock were delighted to win an Olympic medal in what is expected to be their final Olympic Games, they admitted to the moment being “bittersweet” after so narrowly missing out on gold.

“It’s definitely a little bittersweet,” Chock said afterwards (via USA Today), adding, “I wouldn’t change anything about how we approached each performance. What we delivered in each performance, we really gave it our best.”

“It was our gold medal performance. It was the best that we could skate. There’s so many emotions that come through after a week like this. think when things settle, we’ll be super proud and look back on our time here and be happy with everything that was up to us. We really did our best,” Bates said.

This marked the married duo’s fourth Olympic appearance. Despite narrowly missing out on what would have been a well-deserved gold medal, Bates and Chock will undoubtedly go down as two of Team USA’s best figure skaters of all time.
