The Allianz Richmond Marathon 2025 kicks off November 15, marking the 48th edition of ‘America’s Friendliest Marathon.’ Richmond, Virginia, will welcome a huge number of participants as the race winds through the city’s scenic spots, including the James River, the VCU campus, and Monument Avenue.
A total of three races will take place on Saturday, including the full marathon, half marathon, and the 8K, with registration for each event reaching full capacity.

Here is the complete event schedule for the marathon:
Saturday, November 15
6 – 7:15 a.m. – Race Day Packet Pick-up (must be pre-purchased)
6 a.m. – Bag Check opens
6:30 a.m. – wear blue: run to remember Circle of Remembrance (5th & Broad St.)
7 a.m. sharp – Marathon start (1st & Broad St.)
7:15 a.m. sharp – Half Marathon start – Wave A (7th & Broad St.)
7:30 a.m. sharp – 8k start (8th & Broad St.)
8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. – CoStar Group Post Race Party on Brown’s Island
11:30 a.m. – Half Marathon course closes
2 p.m. – Marathon course closes
Live Tracking Details For The Richmond Marathon
While the Richmond Marathon will not be televised, registered participants and spectators can use the RTRT app for live updates and runner tracking.
Fans can watch the races in person from the Special 12 On Your Side Party Zones, at miles 7, 13, and 19 on the marathon course and mile 7 on the half-marathon course. These hubs are easy to locate and serve as the prime viewing locations for spectators.
Additionally, live musical acts will feature along the course to help motivate the runners and provide entertainment for viewers.
More Key Details For The Richmond Marathon
The full marathon will start on Broad Street, just west of 1st Street. The half-marathon and 8K will also start on Broad Street, at 7th and 8th Streets.
All three races finish on a downhill at 5th and Tredegar Street at Brown’s Island and the Canal Walk on Richmond’s downtown riverfront, where the CoStar Group Post Race Party will be held. The full marathon has a 7-hour time limit, and the course will close at 2:00 PM.
Since the half-marathon and 8K use some of the same route, they will also close at the same time.
The Allianz Richmond Marathon will also be providing prizes to the top local finishers in each race, with the cash prizes listed for the top three males and females as follows:
- 1st place – $500
- 2nd place – $300
- 3rd place – $100
The top male and female runners at last year’s Richmond Marathon were Robert Mazzanti and Allison Baum, who posted times of 2:25:11 and 2:46:29, respectively.
