Two-time Olympic gold medal-winning triathlete Alex Yee delivered a historic performance at the Valencia Marathon, garnering praise from Femke Bol. The British athlete finished seventh in the marathon, a position that may not seem eye-catching, but his time of 2:06:38 ranks second-fastest by a Brit.
Only veteran long-distance runner Mo Farah (boasting a time of 2:05:11) surpasses Yee’s exploits at the Valencia Marathon 2025.
Femke Bol Reacts to Alex Yee’s Valencia Marathon Heroics
This seventh-place finish in Valencia was Yee’s first top-ten finish in a marathon in the 2025 season, following his 14th-place finish at the TCS London Marathon. Notably, the 2025 Boston Marathon winner, John Korir, clocked 2:02:24.
Following the race, Yee took to his Instagram account to share a video featuring glimpses of his moments from the event, celebrating the historic feat. The caption of the video read, “An unforgettable day. Take the risk. VAMOS!.”
Bol reacted to the post and dropped a one-word message to appreciate the Brit’s historic feat. “Amazing!!!” she commented.

The Dutch athlete is also transitioning to explore long-distance races, having shifted from the 400m hurdles to the 800m flat earlier in the 2025 season. She started her transition drills a couple of weeks ago at her first training camp of the offseason.

Bol had a few things to say as she bid farewell to the 400m hurdles, an event that has brought her numerous accolades throughout her career and established her as a dominant force on the track and field circuit.
However, the Dutch star feels that with the success she has tasted in the event, it was time for her to test her limits in a new discipline.

Bol said, reflecting on her accolades in the 400m hurdles, “I do think I achieved pretty much everything I could dream of on the 400m hurdles, except for Olympic gold. I won this with a mixed (relay), but not on the 400m hurdles with that.
“I also think I really achieved an amazing time running sub-51, now again running 51.5, also at world (championships). It’s something I’m really proud of, and I think I’ve just felt ready for a new chapter, to try something. It’s exciting, it’s scary, but it’s mostly really exciting for me to try something completely different,” the Dutch athlete said.
Further in the conversation, Bol also said she feels her new 800m event aligns well with the 400m hurdles, as both require similar strength and endurance on the track.
