Mikaela Shiffrin’s fiancé Aleksander Kilde praises Henrik Kristoffersen and Atle Lie McGrath as they dominate the Schladming World Cup.

Mikaela Shiffrin’s fiancé and Norwegian skiing star Aleksander Kilde, though not actively competing on the World Cup circuit this season, has remained a visible supporter of his country’s athletes across various venues. Most recently, he shared his praise following Norway’s strong showing in the men’s slalom at the Schladming World Cup.

At Schladming, Henrik Kristoffersen and Atle Lie McGrath delivered a dominant performance by earning the top two spots on the podium. Kristoffersen claimed the victory, edging his compatriot McGrath by a narrow margin of 0.34 seconds.

Kristoffersen claimed his first victory of the season and his 34th World Cup win of his career. Meanwhile, McGrath has continued his consistent form, adding another podium finish after recently winning the Wengen slalom on January 18, where he edged Lucas Pinheiro Braathen by 0.47 seconds.

The result grabbed Kilde’s attention, and he showed his support for his teammates by reposting a story from FIS Alpine’s Instagram handle. He captioned it, “🇳🇴🇳🇴💪🤩” @h_kristoffersen @atleliemcgrath”.

As Norwegian athletes continue to thrive on the World Cup circuit, back pain sidelined Kilde from competing at the KitzbĂĽhel World Cup, with his most recent start coming at the Livigno Super-G.

In a recent post explaining his withdrawal, the 21-time World Cup winner struck an optimistic tone, looking ahead to the next race rather than expressing frustration or negativity.

Addressing questions about whether they influence each other’s training in an interview via FIS Alpine, the two-time Olympic medalist said, “We share everything…She sends videos to me and of course her coaches, her mom. Everything around is her team.”

He emphasized that his role is rooted in support rather than instruction. “I’m just supportive of her way of skiing and the way she’s doing stuff.” While he may occasionally offer small observations, he stressed that those moments come from trust rather than authority. “I can come with some pointers. I can say that I think you’re capable of skiing that turn even cleaner,” he explained.

Kilde added that the openness works both ways and has helped create a healthy professional dynamic. The 33-year-old further mentioned that the key to making that exchange successful is honesty without overstepping. For him, that balance of sharing thoughts while respecting boundaries has been essential in their relationship.
