AJ Ferrari’s Nebraska Cornhuskers wrestling had a challenging performance at the National Duals in Tulsa, held on Nov. 15-16. The team finished fourth among the 16 competing teams in the event, achieving victories over No. 8 Lehigh and No. 11 Michigan, but suffering defeats at the hands of No. 4 Ohio State and No. 5 Oklahoma State.
However, this defeat hasn’t been able to demotivate Ferrari from achieving greater things with the program, as he sends words of caution to rival programs, such as the Ohio State Buckeyes and Oklahoma State Cowboys.
What Message Did AJ Ferrari Share following Nebraska’s Campaign at the National Duals?
Although Nebraska faced difficulties in the competition, Ferrari recorded significant individual victories, defeating Lehigh’s Calvin Lachman, Michigan’s Taye Ghadiali, and Oklahoma State’s Konner Doucet. The 2021 NCAA champion’s only loss came against Ohio State’s Nick Feldman.
Following the meet, Ferrari expressed his belief in the Nebraska Cornhuskers program, stating, “Not the best weekend for me and the Nebraska Gang, but we’re built for the long run. We still took care of business against Lehigh and Michigan, and I handled Michigan’s #4 Taye with three explosive 🧨 takedowns and an 11–3 major.”
“The NEBRASKA GANG is coming back for vengeance on Ohio State and Oklahoma State, and we’re going to peak when it matters. As for Ohio State and Nick Feldman, enjoy it while you can. Mr. Fast Twitch and the Nebraska Gang will be back, stronger, sharper, and ready for round two,” Ferrari added while sharing a special warning to Feldman and Ohio State.
Ferrari won’t have to wait long for his chance at revenge, as the Cornhuskers are scheduled to face Oklahoma State next month on Dec. 21, while their next matchup against the Buckeyes is on Jan. 25.
Ferrari Sheds Light on His Stint at Cal State Bakersfield
Before arriving at the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Ferrari spent one year of his collegiate tenure at Cal State Bakersfield during the 2024-25 season. This move by the 24-year-old was quite surprising, considering his success at Oklahoma State and the fact that Bakersfield was not as dominant as Ferrari’s previous program.
Speaking of this stint, Ferrari recently said, “I think for me it was good. You humble yourself, at the time I needed to be humbled, and sometimes when you’re stubborn with the Lord, you have to be humbled in order to learn these lessons.”
During his stint at Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners, Ferrari managed to win the 197-pound bronze title at the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships, and also won the 197-pound Pac-12 title.
