AJ Ferrari penned an emotional message after losing the recent duel against Ohio State, where he suffered a shock defeat to Nick Feldman. It marked the second time Feldman had emerged victorious over the Oklahoma State alum, following their meeting at the 2025 National Duals Invitational.
Ferrari has proven himself time and again in the 197-pound division before making the shift to heavyweight. His ultra-aggressive mindset and explosive finishes have often been difficult for even elite athletes to handle.
AJ Ferrari Shares His Thoughts After Recent Loss Against Feldman
As a Husker, he has been one of the most dominant, debuting with a pin victory against North Carolina’s Mikey Calcagno in December 2025. Another highlight of his season was a solid 4-1 decision over Ben Kueter in a dual against Iowa, but it wasn’t enough to secure Nebraska’s overall win. The team anticipated a comeback in the recent head-to-head with Ohio State, but fell short in a 17-16 loss. Ferrari was also stunned by Feldman, who earned a 4-1 decision, helping the Buckeyes win.
In a recent Instagram post, the 24-year-old expressed regret over letting down his family, friends, and well-wishers while addressing a loss he hadn’t experienced in a decade. However, he also praised his team’s effort against the No. 2 team, calling it a testament to their growth.
“I lost tonight, not just personally, but for the team, when it mattered most, and it hurts deeply. I haven’t let a team down when it counted most like this in over 10 years! I let down not only the Nebraska Gang, but also my friends and family who traveled, and many others. But on the upside – the team and I left it all out there, and we came up one point short against the #2 team in the country, Ohio State; and I’m proud of my team’s fight and growth!” he said.
He also hailed Yahuah for both his wins and losses, firmly stating that his journey from here on would be defined by the lessons he learns.
Ferrari was a national champion and conference titlist in his freshman year at Oklahoma State in 2021. He suffered a season-ending injury in 2022 and was also involved in a legal investigation regarding a sexual assault allegation that cost him his position at Oklahoma State and kept him out of collegiate wrestling for a while.
He resumed his career with Cal State Bakersfield in the 2024-25 season as a redshirt sophomore and entered the Huskers roster the following season.

Ferrari’s legal history has frequently made headlines alongside his dominance on the mat. Earlier this month, he was booked into Lancaster County Jail on an outstanding warrant from last year in his hometown in Texas, where he allegedly tried to evade arrest. Though his extradition case was later dismissed, allowing him to continue competing, it could have been revived.
According to recent news, he faces a third-degree felony charge and will make his first court appearance on Feb. 6, 2026. Ferrari was a third-place finisher in the NCAA Championships last season.
