2026 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony: All the Details

The Winter Olympics 2026 Opening Ceremony is set to take place on February 6 at the iconic San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy. It will begin at 2:30 p.m. ET, with a prime-time encore presentation at 8 p.m. The ceremony will be broadcast on NBC and streamed on the Peacock app, NBC app, NBC Sports app, and NBCOlympics.com and NBC.com.

Titled “Armonia” (Harmony), the event will feature an artistic program highlighting Italian culture, a parade of athletes, and the cauldron lighting, formally opened by Italy’s President Sergio Mattarella. The ceremony will be hosted by Terry Gannon, alongside three-time Olympic snowboarding champion Shaun White. Mike Tirico will also contribute to the coverage remotely from Northern California.

Performers include Mariah Carey, who is the headlining performer for the ceremony. She will be joined by Lang Lang, Cecilia Bartoli, Andrea Bocelli, Laura Pausini, Pierfrancesco Favino, Sabrina Impacciatore, and Matilda De Angelis.

2026 Winter Olympics: Event Description and More

In an official press release, the organizers of the opening ceremony at the Milan Winter Olympics said that the event will feature ‘a journey through art and innovation’, serving as a celebration of Italian culture.

“A tribute to Italy and its values, combining the evocative power of our history and culture with the Olympic spirit. Armonia will serve as the common thread of a story that weaves together imagination and beauty, Leonardo da Vinci and the great inventors, Italian design and taste, music and elegance. It will be a collective narrative celebrating Italian talent in all its forms, from artists to athletes, to the young generations shaping tomorrow,” they said, as per NBC.

At previous opening ceremonies, athletes were unable to attend because their competition venues were far from the event. However, the organizers of the Milan Games have changed things by hosting athlete parades in Milan, Livigno, Predazzo, and Cortina.
