The NFL world was turned upside down when the Dallas Cowboys traded superstar edge rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for two first-round picks and defensive lineman Kenny Clark.
The deal, reported on Thursday, includes Green Bay sending its 2026 and 2027 first-round selections, while Parsons is expected to sign a massive four-year, $188 million extension that makes him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
Michael Irvin’s Bold Take Backfires.
Just hours before the news broke, Cowboys legend and Hall of Famer Michael Irvin went on ESPN and boldly declared Parsons was untouchable.
“You can report all you want. There’s no way they’re allowing Micah Parsons to go anywhere… I can guarantee- Micah Parsons isn’t going anywhere. [Jerry Jones] is not that crazy.”

But when the trade was announced, NFL fans immediately pounced on Irvin’s comments.
One fan mocked the timing with a sarcastic post, writing, “Cue curb your enthusiasm music.” Social media quickly turned his guarantee into a punchline, with many labeling it one of the fastest cold takes of all time.

Another fan piled on with: “Fastest ‘not gonna age well comment’ in the history of such comments!!” The reaction highlighted how unpredictable NFL front offices can be, even when it comes to superstars like Parsons.
Cowboys Fans Lash Out at Media
Beyond roasting Irvin, many fans also turned their attention toward ESPN and NFL Live for missing the mark on Parsons’ future.“@espn @NFLLive are such a joke now!!! 🤣🤣🤣”

This reflected a broader frustration among fans who felt the media consistently downplayed the possibility of a blockbuster move. Even though Parsons’ contract negotiations had been contentious for months, few expected Dallas to actually pull the trigger. Instead, much of the established media thought this was just another holdout.
Another fan chimed in with the sharp criticism: “These old heads know nothing… Skip, Shannon, all of them.” That sentiment spread quickly, as supporters accused TV analysts of being out of touch with today’s NFL, where trades for even the biggest stars are no longer off the table.

While fans were busy clowning Irvin, others pointed out how monumental this trade is for both franchises. Parsons leaves Dallas with an impressive resume: four Pro Bowls, two First-Team All-Pro nods, and 52.5 career sacks across just four seasons. His lowest sack total came in 2024, when he still managed 12 in only 13 games.
What the Parsons Trade Means for Dallas and Green Bay
Green Bay, meanwhile, instantly becomes a Super Bowl contender. As one fan noted, “Clearly he does not have an inside scoop 😂,” referencing how quickly insiders’ predictions unraveled once the deal was finalized. With Micah Parsons joining Rashan Gary, the Packers’ defense could be one of the league’s most dominant units.
For the Cowboys, the pressure now shifts to their young edge rushers, who must try to fill the enormous void left behind. Jerry Jones and the front office will be scrutinized for years, depending on how this trade impacts Dallas’s championship window.
Regardless, the Parsons trade has earned them Packers DT Kenny Clark and two first-picks (2026 and 2027), so it appears the team is already thinking about the future without their star defender.
