Olaivavega Ioane is an offensive guard from Penn State who is ranked No. 33 on my NFL Draft Top 100 Big Board. This comprehensive scouting report analyzes Ioane’s draft potential, current mock draft trends, and where he ranks among the top prospects.
Olaivavega Ioane’s NFL Draft Potential
Olaivavega Ioane started five games and earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors as a redshirt freshman, and then proceeded to start all 16 games at left guard during the Nittany Lions’ 16-game CFB Playoff campaign in 2024. Now Ioane is back, and he’s one of a select few bright spots remaining on the team’s offensive side.
At 6’4″, 328 pounds, Ioane has overwhelming size, width, and mass, but he’s a stellar athlete for his build as well. He moves with uncharacteristic lightness both on the lateral plane and when climbing upfield, and his hands carry true folding power at the point of attack.
Ioane can drive defenders off the ball on down and base blocks, and can climb to the second level, but his primary proficiency is his pass protection. He specializes in staying square to rushers and keeping a strong, steady base, while still unlocking throttling hand force and strike power on successive extensions.
Ioane isn’t the best athlete in the guard class, nor is he the most flexible, but he still passes the desired threshold in these areas for his size. He has the profile to command early-to-mid Day 2 capital in the 2026 NFL Draft, and he projects as a long-term NFL starter with an early and tangible two-phase impact.
CFB Week 9 Update
Penn State was on a bye in Week 9, but they’ll return to action against the vaunted Ohio State Buckeyes in Week 10. Ioane’s most pressing test in this game will be nose tackle hybrid Kayden McDonald, whose initial explosion and power element will force sound play out of his stance.
However, there’s also Kenyatta Jackson Jr. to be aware of, who has been used as an interior 3-tech and 4i rusher at times with his long and lean power profile. If Ioane keeps his consistency against top-end competition, he could solidify his standing in the OG1 race.
Where Is Ioane Being Selected Most Often in the PFSN Mock Draft Simulator?
Ioane currently holds the No. 42 overall rank among prospects, positioning him as a Day 2 prospect. His most recent Average Draft Position (ADP) of 41.9 as of October 27 reflects that he is typically being selected in the second or third round.
This small gap between rank and ADP suggests he’s consistently valued among evaluators, even amid fluctuations in player evaluations at this stage of the draft cycle.
Users controlling the Seattle Seahawks have been the team that selected Ioane the most frequently over the past week, accounting for 1.5% of their picks across all seven rounds.
