After being drafted in the 2014 NFL Draft, former LSU WR Odell Beckham Jr. became one of the best WRs in the league for years to come.
Throughout the five seasons he spent with the New York Giants, the team that selected him in the first round, Beckham Jr. had 5,476 receiving yards and 44 receiving touchdowns. Although with all his success, there’s one thing in particular that every football fan remembers from Beckham during that time: the one-handed catch.
What Did Odell Beckham Jr. Do 11 Years Ago?
On November 23, 2014, the New York Giants faced the Dallas Cowboys in a divisional matchup on Sunday Night Football.
At the beginning of the second quarter, Eli Manning ran back in the pocket, stepped up, threw a 43-yard pass to Beckham Jr, and the Star WR made one of the greatest catches of all time.
The Cowboys ended up winning this game, but no one remembers that because of the catch Beckham Jr. made.
From then on, the Giants’ WR was a household name around the league, and the one-handed catch was his signature. For years, kids around the world would yell, “Odell” when they make a one-handed catch.

After his time with the Giants, Beckham Jr. would join the Cleveland Browns, experience some success, but never reach the same star level he had achieved previously.
Since then, he has bounced around the league, and when the season started, Beckham was suspended for six games. This past week, the former first-round selection was reinstated and is now free to sign with any team.
Potential Teams That Could Sign Beckham Jr.
Due to the suspension and limited playing time in recent years, Beckham Jr. will not have as much demand around the league, but there should still be some teams willing to bring him in.
The San Francisco 49ers are the only potential “contender” in this group, and it would make sense. The 49ers need more WR talent on this roster, and taking a low-risk chance on Beckham could be a smart move.
The other two teams are both franchises with picks currently in the top 10 of the NFL Draft. Starting with the Giants, they have a massive need at WR after Malik Nabers’ season-ending injury, and this would be the homecoming waiting to happen.
Speaking of homecomings, the other team would be the New Orleans Saints. Beckham Jr. was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and played at LSU. The interest from Beckham Jr’s side should be there, and WR is also one of the Saints’ most significant needs after trading Rashid Shaheed and releasing Brandin Cooks.
