Odell Beckham Jr. Reveals Heartwarming Aim of Getting Recognized by His Son As NFL Retirement Looms Large

With his NFL future uncertain, Odell Beckham Jr. shares what he wants his son—and fans—to remember most about his football legacy.

There are no defenders to outrun, no end zones to leap into, just a quiet hotel room in Paris, a therapist adjusting Odell Beckham Jr.’s leg, and a rare moment of stillness. But don’t mistake this pause for anything permanent.

The past few weeks have seen Beckham everywhere: courtside in Paris, on red carpets in Cannes, and brushing shoulders with the elite in Monte Carlo. But beneath the designer shades and champagne toasts, something more personal is brewing: the question of what comes next.

What Does Odell Beckham Jr. Want His Son to Remember About His NFL Career?

Beckham isn’t ready to say the word “retirement,” but he’s certainly walking alongside it. And for once, it’s not about proving something to critics or chasing another ring: it’s about legacy, specifically, what his young son will remember.

“I want to be remembered for the passion and the excitement I brought to the game,” Beckham shared in a recent sit-down with Haute Living. He opened up about the grind, years of pain, injuries, relentless training, and the hope that one day, his son will see all of it and understand the kind of competitor his father was.

“I’ve dedicated a lot to the game; I’ve spent my whole life working to get to this point; I’ve been training since I was young. I want to be able to finish off in the right way. And I hope my son sees that, and hopefully it will motivate him. To know that his dad worked through pain, through injuries, that I was one of the greats, and that I had a lot of fun playing the game,” he said.

That fun, of course, is what’s on display now. Beckham is finally letting himself breathe. He admits the downtime is new territory, but a welcome one. “I feel like I’ve been going and working so hard for so many years that it’s good to just be able to sit back,” he said, still horizontal on the therapy table. He’ll grind again, eventually. But it’ll be on his own terms.

How Is Beckham Remaining a Star Even Without an NFL Contract?

While Beckham remains unsigned for the 2025 season, his portfolio off the field is thriving. His investment in Bitcoin, which he converted his $750,000 Rams salary into back in 2021, has nearly doubled as the crypto market surges. That play was as bold as any he’s made on the field.

At 32 years old, the three-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion may not have the same speed, but the fire clearly hasn’t gone out. He played nine games in 2024-25, bringing his career totals to 575 receptions for 7,987 yards and 59 touchdowns.

Whether or not Beckham suits up again remains to be seen. But if this really is the final stretch, he’s choosing to go out with grace, presence, and a legacy his son can be proud of.
