The Washington Commanders are hoping for the best after wide receiver Noah Brown, who joined the team in 2024, was carted off the practice field. The receiver went down during drills, prompting immediate concern from teammates and trainers as he was helped onto the cart. While the extent of the injury remains unclear, the Commanders are anxiously awaiting further evaluation.
What Happened to Commanders WR Noah Brown?
According to Ben Standig of The Athletic, Brown was carted off the field during minicamp practice on Tuesday, June 11.
“Noah Brown was just carted off the field following a catch on the ground. Stayed down for a few extra beats. Then slowly walked to the sideline, then carted to the building,” Standig wrote.
Standig also mentioned that, while being carted off, the cart had to go over a bump, and at that time, Brown let out a scream. Standig is unsure whether that scream was in frustration at getting hurt from the bump, resulting in additional pain for the veteran wideout.

Brown signed with the Commanders last season on a one-year deal. In 2024 with the Commanders, he played 11 games, including nine starts. He caught 35 passes on 56 targets for 453 yards and one touchdown.
After that showing, the Commander re-signed him to another one-year deal worth $3.25 million.
Before joining the Commanders, he played one season with the Houston Texans, but was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the seventh round, 239th overall, in the 2017 NFL Draft.
The injury reportedly happened after open filming, per Chad Ricardo of Fox 5 DC.
How Brown’s Injury Impacts the Commanders
While the Commanders traded for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel, Brown was still positioned to be one of the three starting wide receivers, playing primarily on the outside.
The addition of Samuel solved the slot receiver spot, but Brown was slated to line up opposite Terry McLaurin.
If Brown’s injury is more serious, the Commanders have other options, including K.J. Osborn, Luke McCaffrey, Michael Gallup, and rookie Ja’Corey Brooks.
Last season, as a rookie, McCaffrey caught 18 passes on 24 targets for 168 yards.
Brooks is a rookie who went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. With Louisville last season, he had over 1,000 receiving yards.
Before this news, PFSN’s Jacob Infante had the Commanders making it to the Divisional Round, but losing to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Additionally, in April, PFSN listed veteran wide receiver Amari Cooper as a top-15 available free agent. He could be a potential option should the Commanders not want to rely on any of the existing options more regularly.
While Brown getting hurt is certainly something no one wants to see, this shouldn’t impact the Commanders’ postseason and potential Super Bowl 60 ambitions this upcoming season.
