Former NHL Star Puts Sidney Crosby in a League of His Own Alongside Tom Brady

Sidney Crosby continues to dominate at 38, drawing comparisons to legendary NFL QB Tom Brady for his leadership and impact on the Penguins.

Sidney Crosby remains one of hockey’s most reliable and respected players, even after more than two decades in the NHL.

At 38, his skill, leadership, and awareness keep him central to the Penguins’ success. Every game, Crosby impacts the ice with smart decision-making and consistent play. His recent performances show he can still influence outcomes and keep Pittsburgh competitive.

Who Compared Penguins Star Sidney Crosby to Tom Brady?

Crosby helped the Pittsburgh Penguins extend their winning streak to four games with a 4-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings at Little Caesars Arena. He had two assists, extending his point streak to six games with 10 points, including four goals and six assists.

Bryan Rust added a goal, and Yegor Chinakhov scored his first goal with the Penguins after being traded from Columbus. Parker Wotherspoon contributed two assists, and Stuart Skinner made 11 saves to help secure the win.

Detroit struggled offensively, finishing with just 12 shots on goal. Alex DeBrincat scored the only goal for the Red Wings, while John Gibson stopped 27 shots. Rust gave Pittsburgh a 1-0 lead at 3:44 of the first period on a cross-ice pass from Crosby. Later, Chinakhov broke in alone on a long pass from Ben Kindel to make it 2-0. Rickard Rakell and Connor Dewar added empty-net goals to close out the 4-1 final.

Former NHL Star P.K. Subban highlighted Crosby’s continued dominance on X by comparing him to seven-time Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady. Subban wrote, “In his 21st season, Sidney Crosby enters his ‘Brady Years’ STILL the face of the @nhl. There’s Sid, Brady & then everyone else. Period. Can Sid pull the Pens into the playoffs?”

In the shared video, Subban questioned Crosby’s defensive impact. Crosby explained, “We were holding on to pucks. I thought we did a good job in the offensive zone, not giving them a ton of opportunities to counter, but they’re really good rush teams. So that wasn’t going to last for long, but we did a good job there early on here and got a couple of goals. So if we can build off of that.”

When asked what still makes him enjoy the game, Crosby said, “A lot of things. I think just being part of a team, obviously competing together, just having the opportunity to play hockey every day. That’s something that you never want to take for granted. So yeah, I think there are so many things about the game that I love, but just being part of a team is the best part of it.”
