One of the most talked-about players involved heavily in trade discussions is likely on the verge of being dealt to a new team, as the latest development involving Buffalo Sabres forward JJ Peterka has just been released.
On Wednesday evening, insider Frank Seravalli reported that the Sabres have a deal in principle to send Peterka to the Utah Mammoth, but that nothing has been set in stone yet.
Is JJ Peterka Going To Be The Newest Forward For The Utah Mammoth?
According to Seravalli, a deal is place that would see the Mammoth acquire Peterka from the Sabres but that more details have to be worked out before the deal can become official.
“Breaking: Sources say #Sabres have agreed in principle to trade forward JJ Peterka to @utahmammoth,” Seravalli wrote on social media. “BUT there is apparently a contingency holding up deal. If completed, and still a big if, would be a big get for #TusksUp adding another 23-year-old top line forward to the mix.”

Seravalli didn’t reveal exactly what the contingency holding up the trade of Peterka to Utah is. It could be anything from a physical evaluation to hammering out the exact return that the Sabres could receive from the Mammoth, potentially a new contract extension, or something else altogether.
Now, it looks as though a trade is going to happen. Seravalli followed up his initial report by saying that a trade call has been scheduled, meaning the wheels are in motion.

Peterka is currently a restricted free agent and without a contract for next season.
Peterka Has Been Heavily Involved In Recent Trade Rumors From The Sabres
Despite the Sabres once again failing to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Peterka enjoyed a career season by scoring 27 goals with 41 assists, establishing a new high in points with 68.
He was second overall in scoring on the Sabres behind Tage Thompson, who scored 44 goals with 28 assists.
Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams recently addressed the rumors surrounding Peterka, saying that he had a good exit meeting with the three-year NHL forward but dodged any direct statement on a potential trade.
“I thought at the exit meeting with JJ, with me and Lindy (Ruff) separately, both were very productive, positive, honest,” Adams said.
“I don’t think it’s probably productive or beneficial for me to get into specifics on our players right now,” Adams continued. “This is the time of year where there’s so much going on and there’s probably a lot of misinformation out there.”
Peterka has played in 283 games for the Sabres, who drafted him with the 34th overall pick in 2020. He’s scored a total of 67 goals with 83 assists, along with a -6 rating and 88 PIM.
