Oilers Rumors: Precious Little Good News on Jack Roslovic Injury Front

New injury details emerge on Oilers forward Jack Roslovic, with additional updates on Kasperi Kapanen and Jake Walman ahead of Edmonton’s upcoming games.

The Edmonton Oilers haven’t quite found their rhythm this season, though their convincing 4-0 shutout win over the Seattle Kraken on Saturday offered a brief glimpse of what they can look like at their best.

Despite that victory, they still sit near the bottom of the Pacific Division with an 11-10-5 record, and now injuries are piling up. Among the players currently sidelined are three important contributors: Jack Roslovic, Kasperi Kapanen, and Jake Walman.

Latest Update on Forward Jack Roslovic and Oilers’ Injury Status

Roslovic has turned into one of Edmonton’s steadier offensive contributors this season. With 18 points in 23 games, he sits fifth in team scoring, trailing the likes of Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Evan Bouchard.

His injury came when he stepped in front of a shot against Dallas last week. Although head coach Kris Knoblauch said it’s not a broken bone, it’s still serious enough to sideline him for an extended stretch.

On The Jason Gregor Show, Jason Gregor gave a clearer timeline: “If you look at the injuries, Roslovic, and Kapanen, I’m gonna say right now, most likely, probably not till after Christmas. There’s a chance one or both could play a game before, but I think if we’re talking realistic, you know, now guy heals quicker than you think, that’s great. More than three weeks which puts him after Christmas break.”

If the timeline stays on track, the earliest we might see him back is December 23 against Calgary. However, a more realistic return date is likely the road game on December 27, also against the Flames.

As for Kapanen, he’s been sidelined since October 19 after suffering a lower-body injury in Detroit. He’s remained on long-term injured reserve ever since, following a two-assist start through his first six games.

Gregor also provided an update on Jake Walman, who has missed three straight games after taking two hard shots during a matchup against Tampa Bay.

“Jake Walman did skate today, progression, but he did not finish the practice, he left early with the medical staff, so not playing tomorrow, I don’t think he is playing Thursday, I would say Saturday at the earliest,” he said.

That means Walman has a shot at returning for Saturday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets.
There is at least one bright spot for Edmonton: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Curtis Lazar are finally back in the lineup.

With those reinforcements in place, the Oilers now turn their attention to their next challenge: Tuesday’s matchup against the Minnesota Wild.
