‘She’s a Hockey Fan Now Too?’ — NHL Fans React to Taylor Swift’s Viral Reaction During Oilers vs. Panthers Showdown

Taylor Swift’s and Travis Kelce's appearance at the Game 4 of Stanley Cup Final in Sunrise, Florida, sparked diverse reactions from fans.

Celebrity buzz met playoff intensity during Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final, when 14-time Grammy-winning singer Taylor Swift and her NFL superstar boyfriend Travis Kelce took their seats at the Amerant Bank Arena. The event caused some serious waves and had the internet community talking.

While the night belonged to the Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers, the pop star’s appearance was a parallel storyline.

Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce Make Headlines at Game 4 of Stanley Cup Final

Swift and Kelce showed up in style for Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final in Sunrise, Fla. The couple arrived via helicopter and were seen watching the action from a private box. While it’s unclear which team they were cheering for, Kelce, wearing red, blended seamlessly with the Panthers fans.

Swift’s appearance in the game elicited diverse reactions from fans, who took no time to flood the comment section.

One user reflects the views of all NHL and Swift fans who never saw this crossover coming: “Her reaction was the only thing I wanted today. Thanks.” Some fans simply admired the couple: “They are a gorgeous couple though.”

Some expressed their surprise to see her at an NHL game. After dominating NFL circles for two seasons, the Kelce-Swift duo made an appearance at a sport no one saw coming: “She’s a hockey fan now too?” asked one user on X.

Yet another fan pointed out the sheer madness that unfolded at the Amerant Bank Arena during Game 4 and how no NHL fan, no matter how seasoned, could have been prepared enough for it. “She wasn’t ready for that sound to come out of the crowd, nobody is!”

Another X user simply summarized the experience of watching the Panthers and Oilers in a neck-to-neck battle on the ice: “Having a good time.”

The game itself didn’t disappoint either. The Panthers dominated the first period with three goals in under 10 minutes, including two from Matthew Tkachuk. With a tough start behind them, the Oilers responded by swapping goalies, pulling Stuart Skinner in favor of Calvin Pickard for the second time this Stanley Cup run, and launching an aggressive comeback in the second period.

The Oilers scored three times to tie the game 3-3 by the end of the second period. Defenseman Jake Walman gave the Oilers their first lead late in the third, only for Sam Reinhart to equalize with just 19.5 seconds left, forcing overtime.

The extra period was packed with near-goals. The Panthers came close twice, once hitting the crossbar and another shot getting saved brilliantly by Pickard. But the Oilers’ Leon Draisaitl sealed the deal almost 10 minutes into overtime with his second OT goal of the series and fourth of the playoffs.

The Stanley Cup Final is shaping up to be one of the most thrilling in recent history. With three of the four games going into overtime and the series now tied 2-2, both teams will head to Rogers Place in Edmonton, Canada, for Game 5 on Saturday, June 14.
