The trade buzz around Kyrou hasn’t died down despite his newly activated no-movement clause. NHL insider Frank Seravalli said Tuesday morning that multiple teams have expressed interest in the Ontario native and believe they could convince him to waive his protection.
“I believe Jordan Kyrou’s name remains out there; there are other teams…that have called to express interest; a lot of teams were hoping,” Seravalli said. “If they could just have a conversation with the kid they could convince him to waive.”

This willingness to potentially waive suggests Kyrou might be open to a fresh start elsewhere. The former No. 35 overall pick from 2016 just completed another solid campaign, recording 50 points on 36 goals and 34 assists. That total fell just five points short of his career-high 75 points from 2021-22.
Why Are the Blues Considering Trading Their Top Scorer?
The primary factor driving St. Louis’ interest in moving Kyrou centers on salary cap management. His $8 million annual hit represents a significant chunk of their cap space through 2030-31, money the Blues could potentially redirect toward other needs.
Additionally, the Blues have developed depth in their forward group, particularly with the emergence of Jimmy Snuggerud. This depth gives them the flexibility to explore trading a top-six forward like Kyrou while potentially addressing their defensive needs with a younger player on the back line.
According to The Athletic, Blues General Manager Doug Armstrong has been analyzing each player’s role and future with the organization. When asked about the July 1st deadline for Kyrou’s no-movement clause, Armstrong took a measured approach.

The no-movement clause now gives Kyrou complete control over his future. While a trade can’t be ruled out entirely, it would require his approval and the right situation. Based on Seravalli’s reporting, that willingness to waive appears possible when the right offer surfaces.
