Ever since the youngest Hughes brother was drafted in 2021, NHL fans have been hoping to see all three brothers on the same team.
The trio of Quinn, Jack, and Luke Hughes is one of the top hockey families of the modern era. Jack and Luke currently play for the New Jersey Devils, while Quinn is the captain of the Vancouver Canucks. All three brothers have said on multiple occasions that they’d love to share the ice together. Quinn’s contract expires in 2027, making the possibility of him joining New Jersey within reach.
On Tuesday afternoon, Jack once again brought up the idea of Quinn becoming a Devil.
What Did Jack Hughes Say About Wanting To Play With His Brothers?
This offseason in New Jersey has been filled with Hughes family headlines.
The ongoing contract negotiation with Luke remains unsettled. He has yet to sign a long-term deal, and with training camp set to begin next week, the Devils still do not have a contract in place for the defenseman.
Once that is resolved, the focus could turn to Quinn.
Jack, a superstar for the Devils, recorded 70 points during the 2024-25 season before suffering a shoulder injury. Representing the franchise at the NHL Player Media Tour this week, he alluded to a possible future playing alongside Quinn.
“This is the headline question, you know?’’ Jack said in an interview with Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic. “Honestly, I’m not afraid to say it. Yeah, I would love for Quinn to — I’d love to play with him. Whether that’s in New Jersey, … at some point I want to play with Quinn. But yeah, that’s the question going around. They talk all day about it up in Vancouver, you know? But yeah, I’d love to play with Quinn at some point.”
I asked Jack Hughes about whether he talks to his brother Quinn about his future and possibly playing together.
“This is the headline question, you know?,’’ Jack smiled back.

Quinn has 409 career points so far, with 59 goals and 350 assists. Still, he has emphasized staying focused on his present with Vancouver.
“One thing I’m really good at, or have gotten good at, is I’m very present. I can’t even sign for another year, so there’s nothing I can do,” Quinn said. “As far as the noise [about my future], I can handle the noise. That’s why I’m the captain of the team, because I can handle these things and I can play at an elite level and it doesn’t matter what’s going on around me.”
For now, Quinn is locked in with the Canucks through 2027. Once his contract ends, it’s hard to imagine him anywhere but New Jersey, but for now, fans will have to wait.
