Dallas Stars Trade Rumors: $29,400,000 Stanley Cup Champ Emerges as Trade Target

Central Division giants, the Dallas Stars, have rumored interest in veteran Texan winger playing for a struggling Western Conference team.

Now is the time when every team is rushing to optimize its roster. The trade rumours surrounding key players have never been louder than now. Amid it all, the Dallas Stars have been unconspicuously eyeing a top trade candidate who is expected to draw widespread interest.

Insider Reports the Dallas Stars’ Interest in Blake Coleman

Blake Coleman, who is in the fifth year of his six-year, $29.4 million contract, has outplayed his salary during his time with the Calgary Flames. Despite the Flames’ underwhelming 2025-26 season, Coleman has strengthened his reputation as a reliable producer in the league. The Stars have witnessed Coleman’s exploits with the Flames, and according to David Pagnotta, have a genuine interest in the veteran winger.

“They wanna bring in a top 4 defenseman, they were in on Rasmus Andersson, they wanna bring in somebody who can fit their top 6, they had interest in Kiefer Sherwood; Blake Coleman is still a target,” Pagnotta shared about the Stars’ intentions.

The Stars’ interest in the winger is not unfounded. His performance on the ice, especially his role as an elite penalty killer, is why so many teams are having conversations with the Calgary front office about his future, despite the substantial time left on his current contract. Luckily for the Stars, Coleman could disregard his many suitors and agree to head to Dallas.

Could Coleman be headed home to Texas? While it is too early to say with absolute certainty, reports indicate the interest appears to be mutual. Coleman has a ten-team trade list, and a move to any of those destinations is expected to be unproblematic. Reportedly, the Stars are one of those ten teams. “The veteran forward has two seasons remaining on his contract with a $4.9 million cap hit and holds a ten-team approved trade list with Dallas reportedly on the list,” Jake Tye informed, writing for The Hockey News.

Coleman brings widespread playoff experience and an enviable consistency to the table. An impressive skater, there is no reason why the 34-year-old would not want to join the ranks of the Stars. Dallas plays in the formidable Central Division and has made the playoffs repeatedly over the past couple of years. Coleman is not the sole veteran with rumored interest in the team; New York Rangers’ Artemi Panarin could also be interested in playing with the Stars as a rental, according to Elliotte Friedman.

If the Flames are willing to part ways with a franchise cornerstone like Coleman, rest assured that the Stars will be approaching.
