McDavid remains one of the NHL’s top players as he prepares for the Olympic stage. Drafted first overall by the Edmonton Oilers in 2015, the 29-year-old captain continues to control games with his speed and playmaking.
In the 2025–26 season, he has posted 33 goals and 59 assists for 92 points in 54 games, leading the league in assists and total points.
With NHL players returning to the Olympics for the first time since 2014, McDavid’s current form and focus appear well-timed for the international spotlight.
