Connor McDavid drives offense as Lauren Kyle reacts to Canada’s OT win
Team Canada secured a 4-3 overtime win against Czechia at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics. The victory sent Canada into the semifinals, where it will face Finland on Feb. 20. The game became more challenging after captain Sidney Crosby left in the second period with a lower-body injury and did not return.
Off the ice, the result also drew attention from those close to the team. Connor McDavid’s wife, Lauren Kyle, shared her reaction on Instagram after the game. She posted an image of the arena and Jumbotron and wrote, “Holy Moly,” along with a Canada flag and heart emojis.

Lauren attended the game at the arena and has often been present at major international and NHL games involving McDavid, regularly sharing moments from the stands on Instagram.
She even talked about the difficulty Canada faced in the game in a post on Instagram, writing, “Game 2 GRWM 🇨🇦♥️ Game 4 was too much for my heart to handle, but we’re on our way to the semis!!”
In the quarterfinal game, Canada trailed 3-2 late in the third period before making a comeback. Nick Suzuki scored the tying goal with 3:27 remaining in regulation. The play came after strong pressure in the offensive zone, with players getting into position around the net. That goal gave Canada a chance to keep playing.
Jordan Binnington made key saves to keep Canada in the pursuit of gold. He stopped a breakaway chance late in regulation to prevent Czechia from extending the lead. He then made another important save early in overtime, which allowed Canada to stay in control. His performance gave the team confidence heading into the extra period.
Mitch Marner scored the game-winning goal at 1:22 of overtime. He carried the puck through the middle and lifted a backhand shot into the top corner. The goal completed Canada’s comeback and secured a place in the semifinal.
McDavid recorded two assists and now has 11 points through four games in the tournament. That gives him the lead among all players in points this Olympics, his first. His play has been a key part of Canada’s offense in Milan.
Canada now prepares for the semifinal with questions around Crosby’s availability.
