There has been a lot of discussion about the Edmonton Oilers this season as the team continues to balance strong offense with inconsistent defensive play. The group is in a good position for the playoffs after their season’s first 4-game win streak. Still, performances have varied from game to game before the recent stretch, which brought Connor Ingram into the starting role.
The team has seen a clear improvement in net, as evidenced by recent wins in which they limited chances and controlled the play better.
Connor Ingram Credits Edmonton Oilers Teammates After Shutout Win Over Seattle Kraken
Ingram recorded a 27-save shutout in Edmonton’s 3-0 win over the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday, but he made it clear after the game that the result was not about him alone. The outing came on his 29th birthday and marked his second shutout of the season, while also helping the Oilers secure their fourth straight win.
Speaking after the game, Ingram pointed to the effort in front of him as the main reason for the result. He said, “Yeah, exactly. The more you play, the easier it’s going to get. I thought everybody in front of me did a great job today.
“I didn’t really have to do much back there. Maybe that bad bounce on the PK that kicks out to the slot. Other than that, I thought everybody in front of me made my job really easy.” His comments aligned with how the Oilers played, as they limited chances and kept the game under control.
“Everyone’s doing a little bit extra out there.”

Edmonton got goals from Connor McDavid, Kasperi Kapanen, and Max Jones, with McDavid adding an empty-net goal to extend his goal streak to 5 games. The team stayed organized and avoided unnecessary mistakes, allowing Ingram to remain comfortable in the net throughout the night.
Ingram also spoke about one of his saves, in which he faced a familiar shooter. He said, “Tolvi and I played together in Nashville and Milwaukee for a long time, so I’ve seen that shot several times before. I didn’t know where it was going, but I’ve seen that guy shoot a puck a lot, so I think that was a big advantage for me.
“Then I was able to take a huge step out because I knew help was coming. And at that point, it’s just one-on-one. You gotta win that.”
The goaltender kept things simple when asked about his birthday, saying, “No, thank God. Cake? No, not here. I think [my wife] Sarah’s got some cupcakes for me at home, though. I’m excited for it.”
He added, “I’m not much of a cupcake guy. I’m not an icing guy. Sarah brought home a cookie, and that’s what I’ve been eyeing up all day. A little mini egg cookie, so I’m gonna get into it.”
Edmonton now sits at 38-28-9 with 85 points and holds second place in the Pacific Division. The team continues to push for a strong finish, and with Ingram taking on a larger role in net, his form remains an important factor in their progress.
