‘She’s Gonna Take Everyone Down With Her’ — NFL World Speculates on Dianna Russini Breaking Her Silence About Mike Vrabel

Mike Vrabel’s future with the Patriots could become uncertain, as Mike Florio suggests Dianna Russini may share her side of the story.

Dianna Russini hasn’t spoken publicly since resigning from The Athletic on April 14, but growing hints suggest that her silence won’t last forever.

Nearly a month after Page Six published photos of Russini and New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel together at a luxury resort in Arizona, the scandal has transcended sports and become mainstream news.

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio recently noted that there are signs Russini will eventually share her version of events, which could be the next domino to fall in this saga.

What Dianna Russini’s Comments Could Mean for Mike Vrabel’s Future

Florio pointed to comments from radio host Jon “Stugotz” Weiner, who said on his podcast that Russini’s account is hers to share on her own timeline.

Florio framed Russini’s potential public comments as arguably the most significant remaining development in the saga. He believes that, depending on what she says and when, her story could create an entirely new set of problems for Vrabel and the Patriots.

The NFL world had various reactions to Florio’s theory, and the majority of them believe Russini could create a ton of drama if she decides to tell her side of the story.

“She’s gonna take everyone else down with her too,” wrote Nikki Gist on X.

“Patriots are always cheating,” added Samuel Njoku, who hosts a podcast that covers the Baltimore Ravens.

Podcaster Scott Wetzel decided to take a shot at Russini with his reaction to Florio’s report. “What ‘story?’ I slept around with a married man, ruining two families and my career in the process? Yeah, that’s a great ‘story’ to hear. We know ‘the Story’,” he said about the NFL reporter.

“Sounds like Vrabel should just resign now. He is cooked,” added a former Sports Illustrated writer.

Some others think Russini will not expose Vrabel, which could cost the latter his job with the Patriots.

“She’s gonna try to explain the ‘girls trip,’ isn’t she?” podcaster Farzin Vousoughian said about Russini.

“Even if she talks, Russini won’t throw Vrabel under the bus,” podcaster Matt Couture wrote on X. “No chance.”

The timing of any potential interview matters as much as what she says during it. Florio raised the scenario of Russini sitting down with a national platform before training camp or close to Week 1, which would force the Patriots to manage yet another wave of scrutiny during a crucial preparation window.

Drake Maye has publicly backed Vrabel, and the Patriots’ locker room appears to be standing behind its coach. “We’re here for Coach, we love Coach,” Maye said. “What he does for us, what he’s done for us this past year, you can’t speak into words. Thankful he’s our head coach. Know he’s dealing with some off the field and out of the coaching world, but we’re here for him, and I know he’s gonna come back.”

Vrabel is expected to remain the Patriots’ head coach, as the organization has publicly backed him. The fact that the team is coming off of a Super Bowl appearance in the head coach’s first season certainly helps his job security as well.

However, things could take a turn if Russini has a bombshell up her sleeve. A tell-all interview could reignite a news cycle that Vrabel desperately needs to fade before OTAs and the season begin.
