In his first six seasons in the league, Justin Herbert has thrown for nearly 25,000 career yards with the Los Angeles Chargers, earned two Pro Bowl selections, and is currently on a five-year, $262.5 million contract. Although playoff success has eluded him throughout his career, Herbert is widely viewed as an undisputed top-10 quarterback.
Off the field, Herbert kept his personal life largely private for most of his career. That changed in the summer of 2025, when he began dating pop star Madison Beer. On Tuesday, July 28, the couple announced their engagement.

On Instagram, Beer shared a series of photos with the caption “meet my fiancé.” She received messages from fans and friends, including Herbert’s teammate Ladd McConkey’s wife, Sydney, who wrote, “I can feel the love radiating through the screennnnnnn.”

Herbert and Beer first sparked dating rumors in August 2025, when the quarterback was spotted on one of Beer’s “video shoots in Los Angeles.”
The relationship became public in October, when cameras captured the two kissing on the sidelines at SoFi Stadium before a Chargers game against the Washington Commanders. From there, they were seen together at Lakers games, the 2025 World Series, and various Chargers events throughout the fall.

The Chargers’ account on X posted pictures of Herbert proposing Beer and said, “JH+MB 4EV. Congrats, Justin and Madison.”

Underdog NFL’s account took a subtle dig at the Chargers star and wrote, “Well, at least Justin Herbert has 1 ring now.”
Anand Nanduri also came up with a funny response, saying, “Everyone can quit complaining that Herbert can’t get a ring now.”

Given Herbert’s 0-3 career playoff record, the Super Bowl ring jokes were inevitable. However, the timing of the engagement, which was done before the Chargers’ training camp opens, could signal that the quarterback is settled and locked in heading into the most important season of his career.
Herbert finished the 2025 regular season, completing 66.4% of his passes for 3,727 yards with 26 touchdowns and 13 interceptions across 16 games. According to PFN’s QB Impact Metric, he posted an impact score of 75.1, ranking 18th in the league.
The Chargers went 11-6 and made the playoffs for the second straight year, but were shut down 16-3 by the New England Patriots in the Wild Card round. Herbert was sacked six times during that game and threw for just 159 yards.
With new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel now calling plays, the return of tackles Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt from injury, and a receiving corps featuring McConkey, Quentin Johnston, Tre Harris, Brenen Thompson, and tight ends Oronde Gadsden II, as well as David Njoku, the situation around Herbert is arguably the best it has been since he entered the league.
Moreover, head coach Jim Harbaugh will continue to get the best out of the defense even after the departure of Jesse Minter. Hopefully, Herbert will be able to win the first-ever playoff game of his career in the upcoming season.
