NFL World Reacts to Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Throwing an Interception and Fumbling on the Same Wild Play

With the Eagles struggling against the Chargers on Monday Night Football in Week 14, QB Jalen Hurts hit a new low with a wild play in the first half.

Despite an 8-4 start to the season, the Philadelphia Eagles have endured quite the rollercoaster of emotions in 2025. While the defense has been solid for the most part, the offense has struggled significantly, with the unit looking entirely out of sorts after the rushing attack dominated the NFL in 2024.

Well, unfortunately for Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, he hit a new low against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 14 on Monday Night Football, turning the ball over twice on one play.

Fans Shocked By Wild Jalen Hurts Monday Night Football Moment

After helping the Eagles to a Super Bowl title last season, Hurts has struggled somewhat in 2025, completing 226 of 342 passes for 2,514 yards, 19 touchdowns, and two interceptions through 12 games. He’s also rushed 84 times for 329 yards and eight touchdowns.

However, the Eagles’ offense has struggled mightily against the Chargers in Week 14. Hurts has been held to 10 of 19 passing for 73 yards and two interceptions. On the first interception, Hurts tossed one to Chargers defensive tackle Da’Shawn Hand.

However, during the return, RB Will Shipley forced a fumble, which Hurts recovered. In a cruel twist of fate for Hurts, the Chargers’ Jamaree Caldwell would then force him to fumble the ball, which Caldwell recovered. With the ball in Los Angeles’ hands again, Hurts was responsible for an interception and a fumble on the same play.

Some fans were quick to call out Hurts after the offense’s struggles this season, especially in the passing game. NFL insider James Palmer posted on X, “Oh boy. Hurts throws a pick and lost a fumble on the same play. Not ideal for a player that prides himself on protecting the football.”

NFL reporter Albert Breer referred to the absurdity of the play and the fact that ESPN is airing “Monsters Funday Football,” a Monsters, Inc. animated broadcast of the Week 14 matchup, joking, “That play looked like it was made to be turned into a cartoon.”

FS1’s Kevin Wildes would allude to the Eagles’ overarching struggles this season, posting, “Is the Eagles’ season going poorly? Well, Jalen Hurts just had two turnovers on one play.”

However, not everyone used the moment to take a dig at Hurts and the Eagles. NFL Hall of Fame QB Kurt Warner shouted out Hand and the Chargers defense, explaining, “The most difficult thing for a QB to see is a dropping DLmen… we are reading everyone else!! Great call by the #Chargers and great hands by the big fella #DaShawnHand for the INT!”

Former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson echoed Warner’s point, agreeing in his post, “Hard for Jalen to see the DT drop on that zone blitz…”

No matter if you were dogging Hurts or taking a moment to shout out the Chargers’ defensive effort, there’s no denying that three turnovers, and two by the same person, is quite the spectacle.
