‘Lives Under a Rock’ — NFL World Mocks Mike Florio for Taking Robert Griffin III’s Viral Documentary Joke Seriously

The NFL world had some fun trolling Mike Florio after he fell for a social media post by Robert Griffin III regarding a documentary.

Robert Griffin III was having fun on social media, and it caught the eye of Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, who published a piece about Griffin’s documentary joke. The NFL world poked fun at Florio for missing the point of the former quarterback’s satirical post and dragged him on social media for falling for it.

NFL World Trolls Mike Florio’s Misunderstanding of Robert Griffin III’s Documentary Joke

On social media, a trend is circulating about people pretending to sit down for Netflix interviews about a certain time in their lives. Griffin joined in and geared up in his old Washington uniform, pretending that he was going to be interviewed for a documentary on when the Washington staff kept having him run the ball against Seattle in 2012 with one healthy leg. This ended catastrophically when Griffin blew out his knee, altering his career.

Florio thought a documentary was coming, so he published a piece only to find out it wasn’t happening.

“So this is apparently some really hip and hilarious meme that, at least for someone like RGIII seems like a plausible reality. At time like this, I’m glad I’m old,” said Florio.

The NFL world wasn’t going to let Florio’s age excuse get in the way, and they had their fun telling Florio that this was indeed just a social media trend.

“ProFootballTalk lives under a rock and doesn’t understand that it’s a trend… good stuff,” said one social media personality.

One 247Sports writer, Cory Smith, was amused by Florio’s lack of understanding. “Oh no, Florio doesn’t know about the trend,” said Smith.

Florio acknowledged his older age and lack of awareness in his response to finding out what this trend truly was. So, the NFL world took it as another opportunity to troll him for his age.

“Ok grandpa Mike, let’s get you to bed. It’s a TikTok meme. There is no documentary,” said Barrett Tomek.

Someone decided to take a dig at the ages of all the writers at Pro Football Talk.

“When all of your writers are 55+,” said X user, Eric Lauzin.

It wasn’t all trolling for Florio, although most of it was. One member of the NFL world offered Florio a suggestion. Hire someone who is up to date with social media trends to ensure he stays up to speed.

“Mike you gotta hire someone from GenZ to explain TikTok trends to you. There’s no real documentary lol,” said X user, Sal Vitro.

Florio isn’t the first person to fall for a joke or a trend on social media, and he won’t be the last, either.

Unfortunately, the NFL world won’t be getting a documentary on Griffin, which would certainly have been interesting, but his humorous joke gave them some entertainment as they await the start of training camp.
