The Kansas City Chiefs just made a massive move. Looking to add a premier running back, they went out and got the reigning Super Bowl MVP, Kenneth Walker III. Rookie Jeremiyah Love was rumored to be the answer at pick No. 9, but the Chiefs went with Walker after the Seahawks declined to give him the franchise tag. The NFL world reacted to the wild signing as Walker joins forces with the juggernaut Chiefs.
NFL World Reacts to Kenneth Walker III Signing With the Kansas City Chiefs
The reigning Super Bowl MVP isn’t going home. He’s instead going to team up with Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Andy Reid as they look to redeem their poor season last year.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Walker signed a three-year deal, worth up to $45 million. It includes $28.7 million in guaranteed money.
“Good. I didn’t want them taking Jeremiyah Love in the first round. Big W,” said Bengals reporter James Rapien.

Love won’t be going to the Chiefs anymore after the major splash. This is a major addition for a team whose rushing attack hasn’t been doing enough to support Patrick Mahomes’ magic in the passing game.
“Wowza. Big W for KC,” said Cowboys reporter Nick Harris.

The Chiefs are going to have a great offense again in 2026 once Mahomes gets back in a groove. The NFL world is loving this move for the Chiefs as they aim to return back to their dynasty form.
“Nice pickup for the Chiefs,” said a senior writer for the Bears.
“The Chiefs get their workhorse RB1,” one NFL reporter added.
Walker can handle a relatively heavy workload. Isiah Pacheco has found himself dealing with injury issues and Kareem Hunt isn’t a super explosive running back.
“The Chiefs agreeing to sign Super Bowl MVP RB Kenneth Walker is quite significant. Walker was third in the NFL in explosive rush rate last season. Remember, Isiah Pacheco didn’t have a single rushing attempt in which he gained 20 or more yards. Kareem Hunt had one,” said NFL analyst Nate Taylor.
Kansas City was left without a reliable option at times and a lack of explosivity. Walker fills this hole for the Chiefs.
Other suitors were in pursuit of Walker, but the Chiefs were able to fend them all off. The Giants tried to convince Walker to come to New York, but came up short.
“Giants were in big time, but price got to be too much,” said NFL insider Benjamin Allbright.

NFL insider Field Yates addressed the mock drafts, including Love to the Chiefs at No. 9. He’s ready to get rid of any of those after the deal.
“Every mock draft with Jeremiyah Love to the Chiefs at pick 9 can now be shredded. (I don’t think he gets to pick 9 anyways),” said Yates.

The Chiefs are gearing up for 2026 to make a rampant run back to the Super Bowl after being in the previous three before missing the playoffs last season. Mahomes, Walker, Kelce, and Rashee Rice make up quite an offense and defenses better watch out for a hungry Chiefs team.
