The Mike Vrabel–Dianna Russini controversy has taken yet another twist, this time involving competing media outlets and how the scandal was initially exposed. TMZ has entered the mix with new exclusive photographs, just weeks after they rejected the initial photos that ended up running in the New York Post.
New details reveal how the Vrabel-Russini scandal came to light and how TMZ initially dropped the ball, and it’s drawing reactions from Pablo Torre and others in the NFL world.
TMZ’s Late Entry Into the Mike Vrabel-Dianna Russini Scandal Gets Criticized
The latest development came after TMZ shared a photo of Vrabel and Russini together at a casino in Biloxi, Mississippi, from early 2024.
In their report, TMZ Sports notes that Vrabel and Russini were photographed at the Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi, shortly before midnight on January 31, 2024.
“A witness tells us they snapped the pic when they recognized Vrabel … and assumed at the time that the woman by his side was his wife based on their body language. They didn’t realize until the recent bombshell news that the lady was actually Russini.”

This is now the third different state that Vrabel and Russini have photographed together in, as the previous photos were from Arizona and New York encounters.
TMZ has now entered the mix after previously turning down the initial photos when they were offered to them for a four-figure sum.
“TMZ was offered these photographs first,” said investigative reporter Pablo Torre on his show “Pablo Torre Finds Out.” “I’m told a woman provided these photographs to TMZ. They did not name Dianna Russini, but they did identify the NFL head coach with a woman who’s not his wife, I’m told. And the price requested was indeed four figures. And TMZ — to their shame, I think in retrospect — weren’t super interested.”
He continued by explaining how the situation unfolded afterward, suggesting that timing and recognition played a crucial role in how the story ultimately broke.
“But by the time they figured out that the other woman… was in fact Dianna Russini a day or so later, the tipster had seemingly already made a deal with the New York Post,” Torre continued.
The NFL world is now cracking jokes about TMZ jumping in to cover the Vrabel-Russini scandal after initially passing on one of the biggest sports controversies in recent memory.

Boston radio host Glenn Ordway was more critical, stating, “TMZ suddenly realizes that NY Post Page Six is kicking their a** on this story, and so they finally check in with their own pictures… ‘EXCLUSIVE’ ??? probably NOT.”

Other reactions captured the sheer disbelief surrounding the saga. “WHO WAS TAKING ALL THESE PHOTOS OF THEM!!!!” senior NFL writer Mike Freeman wrote.
Meanwhile, podcaster Karan Gupta simply noted, “TMZ has arrived.”
Page Six had the two biggest bombshells of this whole saga, publishing the initial photos that showed Vrabel and Russini together at an Arizona resort, and then digging up older images from 2020 that captured them together at a bar in New York City.
The 2024 TMZ photo adds another chapter, but it isn’t quite the bombshell that the Post landed. However, it seems new information and photos are surfacing everyday when it comes to this scandal, so it’s very possible more will come to light in the coming days.
