They’ve done it again. The New Orleans Saints have won their third game in a row, and it was a dominant victory. In the first half, the offense started a bit slow, but that second half looked much better, and New Orleans had the New York Jets confused. This is a challenging game to choose just three standouts, but here are those players.
Tyler Shough
It may be getting old to see QB Tyler Shough on this list each week, but the rookie has earned it, and each game he seems to outperform the previous one. Shough had the pressure on his shoulders in this game with the Saints, who had little to no running game.
In the first half, Shough had 32 passing attempts, which tied the most for a first half this season, and 206 passing yards. Throughout the second half, he looked even more comfortable, and, combined with HC Kellen Moore’s excellent play-calling, the Saints looked excellent out there.
Shough finished with 308 passing yards and 1 passing touchdown, which was to WR Chris Olave with 41 seconds left in the third quarter.

Charlie Smyth
After being signed to a three-year contract earlier this week, Charlie Smyth cemented himself as the Saints’ starting kicker. This came after some impressive performances in his first three games, but after being officially signed, Smyth still needed a strong finish to the season.
The Saints really struggled to get into the end zone today against New York, but good news for New Orleans: Smyth stepped up almost every time. He ended with 5 made field goals out of six attempts, and the one he missed was from 61 yards.

Cam Jordan
Going away from the young players on the team, the last standout of today’s game is the Saints’ legendary EDGE Cam Jordan. He has had a quietly great season, entering Week 16 with 6.5 sacks according to PFSN’s EDGE Impact Metric. Against the Jets, Jordan was able to get to QB Brady Cook twice, raising his sack total to 8.5.
Doing this in year 15 is unbelievably impressive, and with Jordan’s future in the NFL being unknown, this season would be a great send-off if that is the case.
