With a 1-8 record, the New Orleans Saints need luck to go their way, but throughout this year, that has been nowhere near the case. In today’s game, when New Orleans was up 10-7, the defense blocked the Carolina Panthers’ field goal attempt. When the Saints’ offense came on the field, the referees announced that it was actually the Panthers’ ball, but how?
According to the refs, because the Saints were the first team to touch the ball after it crossed the line of scrimmage, the Panthers then secured possession. This was a confusing moment for every fan watching, but for Saints fans in particular, questions were everywhere.

This call by the referees felt like something that would only happen to the Saints this season, and even if it was correct (with a good amount of explanation), it was still disappointing for fans. The good news was that New Orleans immediately regained possession of the ball after a fumble.
