Latest on Drake London’s Playing Status After Another Limited Practice

Falcons star WR Drake London has missed four straight games. Will he play this week against the Cardinals?

The Atlanta Falcons will take on the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday in their Week 16 matchup. They are hopeful that star wide receiver Drake London will be able to play. London has missed four straight games with a PCL injury to his left knee, which he sustained in a Week 11, 30-27 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Before exiting late in that game, London had seven catches for 119 yards.

Drake London Injury Update

Terrin Waack of the team’s official site reported that London expects to play this week, with London saying, “We’re trending in the right direction.” The Falcons are 2-2 without London during the four-game stretch he has missed.

London spoke about wanting to be on the field, saying, “I just try to be the best teammate that I can possibly be. Yeah, obviously, it hurt. You want to be out there, knowing you can contribute. But I don’t want to be a hindrance to the team by trying to be a tough guy and play.”

More recently, in a Week 15 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football, the Falcons’ offense looked sharp. Quarterback Kirk Cousins went 30 of 44 for 373 yards and three touchdowns, with no interceptions.

Tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. led the team in receiving with 11 catches for 166 yards and three touchdowns. Offensively, Atlanta performed well, and when it mattered most, Cousins led a game-winning drive that included a conversion on fourth-and-14 and ultimately resulted in a game-winning field goal by kicker Zane Gonzalez.

Although the Falcons were eliminated from playoff contention following their Week 14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, London remains eager to return. He spoke further about his desire to play, saying, “I’ve been scratching and clawing to play every game this season,” London said. “A lot of people don’t know that, but the season hasn’t been too well on my body. So, could be a blessing in disguise that this happened. I don’t know, but just trying to fight back and get out there on the field.”

PFSN’s Wide Receiver Impact metric has London graded at 85.5. He has been an essential part of the Falcons’ offense, serving as a skilled route runner and a deep threat to opposing defenses. If London is able to return, it would give Atlanta a stronger chance at victory.
