The Atlanta Falcons are fresh off a 27-24 victory against the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football in Week 17. LA had been having a great season thus far, but the Falcons were able to stifle them. Although they celebrated a significant victory, they do have some key players on the injury report for their game this Sunday vs. the New Orleans Saints.
Atlanta Falcons Injury Updates
Defensive linemen Brandon Dorlus made an impact against the Rams on Monday, sacking quarterback Matthew Stafford. However, Dorlus is dealing with a hamstring injury and could miss a significant amount of time.
It was reported by Tori McElhaney of the official team site that head coach Raheem Morris spoke on Dorlus’ injury, saying, “We dodged a big-time bullet. We feel pretty good about the injury. He’s going to miss a couple of weeks. Obviously, going to miss this game, but we do feel really good about what happened, as opposed to what everybody thought.”
It was also reported that when Dorlus went down, they initially thought it was due to a knee injury, as he was carted off the field. However, after further tests, it was diagnosed as a hamstring injury. Dorlus did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.
The Falcons’ secondary has suffered numerous injuries throughout the season. More recently, cornerback Mike Hughes, who tends to play in the slot, is still missing time on the field due to an ankle injury.
He’s been absent the last two games, and in said absence, cornerback Cobee Bryant stepped up against Tampa Bay in Week 15 with five total tackles and a pass deflection while guarding Buccaneers star wide receiver Mike Evans.
Cornerback Clark Phillips III is dealing with an ankle injury and was a non-participant in practice as well.
On the offensive side of the ball, wide receiver Drake London and tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. were listed on the injury report. London with a knee and Pitts with a knee as well. London had missed multiple games since being injured in Week 11 against the Carolina Panthers.
Pitts has been playing well, but he is dealing with a knee injury, which he has a history of, so that would be something to look out for. Both players were limited in practice on Wednesday.
