Drake London Back on the Field: Falcons WR’s Return Could Spark Passing Game

Atlanta Falcons WR Drake London has been out for four consecutive games. What is his status this week for their matchup with Arizona?

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London has been ruled out for four straight games because of a knee injury, diagnosed as a PCL sprain in his left knee. However, the Falcons received some positive news as London returned to practice in a limited capacity.

Drake London Injury Update

London was injured in the Falcons’ Week 11, 30-27 overtime loss to the Carolina Panthers. He played well in the game, catching seven passes for 119 yards before suffering the injury late and not returning. At the time, it was reported he would be week to week. Even ahead of the Week 14 game against the Seattle Seahawks, he was considered day-to-day but was still ruled out. Week 15 against Tampa Bay was no different, as he did not play in that game either.

Tori McElhany of the official team site reported that Falcons head coach Raheem Morris said the team will evaluate London to determine whether he will be ready for their game against the Arizona Cardinals later this week.

Morris also said, “We’ll get a chance to see where he’s at, do a couple of things with him. He seems to be in positive spirits, so we look forward to seeing how much he’ll potentially be able to give us this week.”

So far this season, London has recorded 60 catches for 810 yards and six touchdowns.

How Did The Offense Look Against Tampa Bay Without London?

The Falcons defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 29-28 in their Week 15 Thursday Night Football matchup. The comeback win was sealed by a last-second field goal from kicker Zane Gonzalez. Although the offense did not have London, it still delivered a strong performance.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins finished 30 of 44 for 373 yards and three touchdowns. He also led a fourth-quarter drive that set up the game-winning field goal. Tight end Kyle Pitts Sr. caught 11 passes for 166 yards and three touchdowns. The offense remained productive and balanced in London’s absence, with offensive coordinator Zac Robinson effectively scheming players open.

The Falcons will face the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Atlanta is 5-9 and has been eliminated from playoff contention. Arizona is 3-11.
