While most teams will have an opportunity to make major changes to their roster, one team is getting a far smaller chance than others. The official NFL Draft is supposed to be divided into seven rounds with each team getting a singular pick in each round.
However, thanks to trades, forfeits, and compensatory picks, the real number is usually different from the ideal. This year, 257 picks will be officially called, and as it currently stands, one team will only have four chances to add rookies to their roster, the least among all franchises.

Team With Fewest Picks in the 2025 NFL Draft
Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings are that unlucky franchise that only has four total selections over the length of the 2025 NFL Draft emanating from Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. Thanks to a plethora of trades, their selections between April 24-26 have significantly reduced in number.
As a result, Minnesota will only have four picks to choose from — one each in the first, third, fifth, and sixth rounds — making it even more important that they strike correctly with their choices.
In 2024, the Vikings were one of the most surprising teams in the entire NFL. Pegged to miss the playoffs after replacing Kirk Cousins with a rookie in J.J. McCarthy and Sam Darnold, they somehow enjoyed a miraculous 14-win season.
Darnold emerged as a legitimate starting-caliber NFL quarterback, while Kevin O’Connell took home Coach of the Year on the back of an excellent defense. However, Darnold is no longer on the roster, and McCarthy is expected to step in as the Week 1 starter.
To surround him with the perfect help, one recent mock draft from PFSN breaks down the selections Minnesota could make in the NFL Draft. Beginning in the first round, analyst Reese Decker has the Vikings selecting safety Malaki Starks while making a compelling case for the selection.
“Malaki Starks is an instinctive centerfielder with natural ball skills, highlighted by his six career interceptions, including his lone 2024 pick, an acrobatic grab against Clemson in the season opener. He plays with decisiveness, showcasing excellent closing speed, relentless pursuit, and physicality as a run defender.
“Starks is an immediate plug-and-play defender who can immediately fill the void left by Cam Bynum’s departure.”
From there on, defense remains the priority with edge rusher Bradyn Swinson joining the team in the third round. As they miss out on the fourth round entirely, the Vikings pair Swinson with another edge rusher, Tyler Batty, with the first pick of Round 5.
Minnesota’s final selection comes midway through the sixth round as they add some help on the offensive line courtesy of Seth McLaughlin.
