All You Need To Know About the Release Date for the NFL Playoff Schedule

The answer to when the NFL will release its playoff schedule is straightforward, but the timing matters. It will be released after all the games in Week 18 are played. Until then, the league cannot officially confirm dates, times, or matchups.

Week 18 concludes with the Baltimore Ravens facing the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football in a game that carries enormous weight. The winner claims the AFC North title, while the loser is eliminated from postseason contention.

Now, because that single outcome affects both division standings and the final wildcard spot, the NFL must wait for the result before finalizing the bracket.

Since 2021, the postseason format has included 14 teams, with seven qualifying from each conference. That group consists of four division winners and three wildcard teams. Once Week 18 ends, all 14 teams will be locked in, seeding will be finalized, and the league can officially announce the full playoff schedule.

Wild card weekend is set to begin Saturday, Jan. 10, with games spread across Jan. 10, 11, and 12. The divisional round will follow on Jan. 17 and 18, with the No. 1 seed in each conference earning a bye into that round. Conference championship games are scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 25, and Super Bowl LX will be played Feb. 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

While kickoff times and networks will be confirmed after Week 18, the broadcast framework is already known. Games will air across ABC, CBS, ESPN, Fox, and NBC, with streaming available on ESPN+, Paramount+, Peacock, Prime Video, and Fubo. One wildcard game will be exclusive to Prime Video, although local-market broadcasts will still apply.

Beyond the games themselves, the league has already confirmed one major Super Bowl detail: the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show will feature Bad Bunny.

Until the final whistle of Week 18 sounds, everything remains provisional. Once it does, the NFL will move quickly, releasing the playoff schedule and officially beginning the race to Super Bowl 60.
