Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride has a fiery side to his on-field attitude, one that helps him perform at a high level for his team. Sometimes, players with fiery sides might carry things too far.
In the NFL’s eyes, McBride did just that on an early second-quarter play against the San Francisco 49ers last Sunday. McBride made a great catch, but what happened after the catch got the league’s attention.
What Happened to Cardinals TE Trey McBride?
McBride dove at the 49ers’ 43-yard line and made a great catch off a pass from Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray.
When McBride got up to his feet, it looked like he was saying something to the 49ers defender who was still down. It appears that McBride was taunting his opponent, which is a no-no in the NFL, which some snarky fans call the “No Fun League.”

What do McBride’s teammates think about him and his play? Wide receiver Greg Dortch sees McBride hit a different gear when getting on the field. Dortch said, “When we touch the grass, he go from Trey to Treyquan.”
Fantasy Football Outlook for McBride
With McBride playing at a pretty high level right now for Arizona, what does the outlook look like for fantasy players eyeing him for their teams? PFSN’s Kyle Soppe has some words of wisdom for the fantasy leaguers out there.
“Trey McBride has been a top 12 tight end in all three weeks this season and now has the second-longest active streak of 5+ reception games with five in a row (Puka Nacua is playing a different sport with 11 straight),” Soppe wrote.
“The volume is as safe as it gets, and while the TD equity is traditionally low, it was nice to see a Kyler Murray rollout touchdown pass to McBride on the sideline over the weekend (his first career touchdown coming before late October),” Soppe wrote.
“Marvin Harrison Jr. hasn’t lived up to the hype, and that puts McBride in position to challenge Brock Bowers for the throne at the position,” he added. “In fact, he’s overtaken him in my rest-of-season rankings, with the thought being that he has the better quarterback and, at this point, less target competition.”
