The NFL 2025-26 regular season is almost halfway through. With the trade deadline approaching, many NFL teams must be looking back at the players they have traded in the offseason. While some of those trades could feel good looking back, others could be nothing short of a nightmare. The latter is surely being experienced by the Dallas Cowboys right now as they see Micah Parsons outperforming the competition for his current team.
Green Bay Packers defensive end Parsons appeared in three games during October and recorded four sacks, five tackles for loss, six quarterback hits, and 18 total pressures. His performance helped the Packers go undefeated for the month.
What Micah Parsons News Did the NFL Share?
The NFL announced on Thursday that Parsons has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for October, recognizing his play this month that has pushed the Packers into NFC contention. This is the second time in Parsons’ career that he has won the honor. His first came in September 2023, when he was a member of the Dallas Cowboys.
His three-sack outing against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 7 earned him NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors, and his clutch sacks of Aaron Rodgers during Green Bay’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers were incredible as well. In the Week 6 game against his former team, the Cowboys, Parsons recorded 10 pressures against Dak Prescott. He recorded one sack, but not Prescott’s. The game ended in a 40-40 overtime tie.

Parsons leads the NFL with 44 total quarterback pressures this season.
“He’s been outstanding,” coach Matt LaFleur said on Thursday in a press conference. “All those guys are kind of feeding off one another. Certainly, he gets a lot of attention in regards to protections, and a lot of times he’s defeating a chip, and then they might even slide to him, which opens up opportunities for everybody else.”
LaFleur also credited Parsons for his leadership and noted how his presence has helped elevate players such as Rashan Gary, Devonte Wyatt, and Karl Brooks.

“I mean, we feel pretty confident that we got a lot of good players in there that can all play off one another. And I think the other thing that we’ve been doing a decent job of is when told our linebackers are doing a good job of rushing the quarterback as well.”
After the Cowboys dealt the pass rusher to the Packers in late August, Parsons has been incredible. He was signed on with a four-year, $188 million contract. Through the first half of the season, that investment appears to be paying off.
Through seven games, he has made 17 total tackles, nine of which were solo, and has 6.5 sacks. His PFSN EDGE Impact Score is 83.0 with a B grade, and he ranks fifth among all EDGEs.
