NFL Legend Randy Moss Breaks Down in Tears After Emotional Return To Cover Super Bowl After Hard-Fought Battle With Cancer

Legendary NFL wide receiver Randy Moss made an emotional return to ESPN’s broadcast set just two months after being diagnosed with cancer, and he couldn’t hold back the tears.

In a powerful moment that quickly went viral, Moss broke down while expressing his gratitude to God and everyone who supported him through his battle. His raw emotion captured just how much this return, at the Super Bowl no less, meant to him.

    Welcome Back, Randy Moss

“It’s the big crybaby here, hey y’all, I can’t do it alone,” Moss said while in tears.

“Guys, it’s been hard, but I’ve got a lotta love, and a lotta people believe in me, man,” said the Hall of Fame receiver.

This is Moss’ first live appearance since he announced he was taking time away to fight cancer and recover from surgery in December. There could be no better place to make such a powerful return than live from the Super Bowl, with millions watching and cheering on the NFL legend.

Support came pouring in across social media from massive television personality Stephen A. Smith to NBA superstar and all-time great LeBron James.

The love that Moss speaks about has been abundantly clear since the day he announced his diagnosis to now, as he makes his highly anticipated return.

    Moss’ Hall of Fame Career

It’s very clear the love for Moss spreads wide across the NFL world. But for many fans, that love has been there since 1998.

Moss stormed into the league with the Minnesota Vikings after being drafted No. 21 overall. When he won Offensive Rookie of the Year and finished third in MVP voting, the league knew an all-time great had arrived.

Moss went on to play for 14 seasons, during which time he was selected as a Pro Bowler six times and named to an All-Pro team on four occasions. In his 14-year career, Moss had 10 seasons with over 1,000 yards, proving his dominance and making it clear that he is one of the greatest receivers to ever play the game.

Moss impacted the game of football the second he stepped on the field with the Vikings in 1998. Now that his legendary playing career is over, he continues to impact fans and cancer survivors alike with his words of wisdom, gratitude, and undeniable strength.

Moss has proved he’s not only a legendary football star but a fighter as well. No defender could guard him back in the day, and now, in 2025, not even cancer could stop him.
